The apparatus is enabled to measure both an inertial loading of the CRS resulting from the impact on the vehicle and a contact loading as a result of the intrusion of a door towards the CRS, with a plurality of calibration points for the relative velocity of the impactor with regard to the bench.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a fastening device of the kind indicated in the preamble of patent claim 1, by means of which fastening device a particularly high safety for seat passengers of the child seat can be realized.
This object is solved by fastening device having the features of patent claim 1.
Advantageous embodiments with expedient developments of the invention are indicated in the other patent claims.
In order to provide a fastening device of the kind indicated in the preamble of patent claim 1, by means of which fastening device a particularly high safety for seat passengers of the child seat can be realized, according to the present invention the top tether bracket is configured as a load limiting element purposefully deforming due to a frontal impact thereby purposefully allowing a movement in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle and limiting the loads acting upon a seat passenger of the child seat during the frontal impact.
In a frontal impact the seat passenger of the child seat is restrained by safety belts which are also referred to as child restrained system (CRS) tethers. The child seat itself is in turn restraint by tethers attached to the structure or the body in white of the vehicle.
For example, some of said tethers are attached to two ISOFIX hooks arranged in the area of a seat part of a seating system on which the child seat is arranged. Moreover, one of said tethers is the so-called top tether which is attached to the child seat on one end and the top tether bracket on the other end. It has been shown that forces in the top tether can go up to four kilonewton during a frontal impact. Since the top tether bracket according to the present invention is configured as a load limiting element loads, in particular belt forces, acting upon the seat passenger can be limited and, thus, kept particularly low. Simulations have shown that by incorporating a load limiting function into the top tether bracket an improved, i.e. reduced seat passenger loading can be realized.
For example, the top tether bracket is configured to purposefully deform at certain load and allow a movement of 35-50 millimeters in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle so that the loads acting upon the seat passenger sitting in the child seat can be kept particularly low. The idea of the invention is to design the top tether bracket in such a way that it can be used to fix a top tether of the child seat and act as a load limiting device so that a particularly high safety can be realized.
Further advantages, features, and details of the invention derive from the following description of a preferred embodiment as well as from the drawings. The features and feature combinations previously mentioned in the description as well as the features and feature combinations mentioned in the following description of the figures and/or shown in the figures alone can be employed not only in the respective indicated combination but also in any other combination or taken alone without leaving the scope of the invention.
The drawing shows in: Fig. 1 a schematic side view of an arrangement of a child seat on a seating system of a motor vehicle, in which arrangement the child seat is attached to two lower ISOFIX hooks and an upper top tether bracket by means of a top tether, wherein the top tether bracket is configured as a load limiting element purposefully deforming due to a frontal impact thereby purposefully allowing a movement in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle and limiting the loads acting upon a seat passenger of the child seat during the frontal impact; Fig. 2a a schematic perspective view of a first embodiment of the top tether bracket; Fig. 2b a schematic sectional view of the top tether bracket according to the first embodiment; Fig. 3a a schematic perspective view of a second embodiment of the top tether bracket; Fig. 3b a schematic sectional view of the second embodiment of the top tether bracket; Fig. 4a a schematic perspective view of a third embodiment of the top tether bracket; Fig. 4b a schematic sectional view of the third embodiment of the top tether bracket; Fig. 5a a schematic perspective view of a fourth embodiment of the top tether bracket; Fig. 5b a schematic sectional view of the fourth embodiment of the top tether bracket; Fig. 6a a schematic perspective view of a fifth embodiment of the top tether bracket; Fig. 6b a schematic sectional view of the fifth embodiment of the top tether bracket; Fig. 7a a schematic perspective view of a sixth embodiment of the top tether bracket; Fig. 7b a schematic sectional view of the sixth embodiment of the top tether bracket; Fig. 8a a schematic perspective view of a seventh embodiment of the top tether bracket; Fig. 8b a schematic sectional view of the seventh embodiment of the top tether bracket; Fig. 9a a schematic perspective view of an eighth embodiment of the top tether bracket; Fig. 9b a schematic sectional view of the eighth embodiment of the top tether bracket; Fig. ba a schematic perspective view of a ninth embodiment of the top tether bracket; and Fig. lOb a schematic sectional view of the ninth embodiment of the top tether bracket.
In the figures the same elements or elements having the same functions are designated with the same reference signs.
Fig. 1 shows an arrangement of a child seat 10 on a seating system in the form of a rear bench seat 12 of a motor vehicle in the form of a passenger vehicle, in which arrangement the child seat 10 is fixed to the passenger vehicle and the rear bench seat 12 by means of a fastening device 14. The fastening device 14 comprises two lower ISOFIX hooks 16 arranged in the area of a seat part 18 of the rear bench seat 12.
Moreover, the fastening device 14 comprises one top tether bracket 20 which is arranged above the ISOFIX hooks 16 in the vertical direction of the vehicle, the top tether bracket 20 being attached to the structure or body in white of the vehicle.
As can be seen from Fig. 1 a so-called top tether 22 is used to attach the child seat 10 to the top tether bracket 20, the top tether 22 being attached to the child seat 10 on one end and having a hook 24 on the other hand. The hook 24 can be clamped to the top tether bracket 20. For this purpose, the top tether bracket 20 has an opening 26 configured as a fixing hole into which the hook 24 can be hooked. Thereby, the child seat 10 is restraint by the fastening device 14 which is also referred to as a child restraint system (CRS). For example, the child seat 10 has further tethers in the form of safety belts for restraining seat passengers such as children sitting in the child seat 10 respectively. Preferably, the top tether bracket 20 is designed in one piece and made of a metallic material such as,
for example, steel.
In order to realize a particularly high safety for the seat passengers of the child seat 10, the top tether bracket 20 is configured as a load limiting element purposefully deforming due to a frontal impact thereby purposefully allowing a movement in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle and limiting the loads acting upon a seat passenger of the child seat 10 during the frontal impact when the child seat 10 is attached to the top tether bracket 20 by means of the top tether 22. For example, the top tether bracket 20 which is, for example, designed as a top tether anchor can deform thereby allowing a movement in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle (x-direction) of 34-50 millimeters (mm) so that loads acting upon the seat passenger of the child seat 10 can be kept particularly low, the loads being exerted by the safety belts. The idea behind the fastening device 14 is to design the top tether bracket 20 in such a way that the top tether bracket 20 delivers a desired load versus deformation characteristics so that the loads acting upon the seat passenger can be kept particularly low.
Figs. 2a and 2b show a first embodiment of the top tether bracket 20. As can be seen from Fig. 2b, the top tether bracket 20 has a lower first portion 28 and an upper second portion 30 abutting the first portion 28, the second portion 30 extending angularly to the first portion 28. In the first embodiment, the second portion 30 extends away from the first portion 28 towards the front of the passenger vehicle. The top tether bracket 20 further comprises two mounting portions 32, 34 for connecting, in particular welding, the top tether bracket 20 to the body in white.
Figs. 3a and 3b show a second embodiment of the top tether bracket 20. As can be seen from Fig. Sb, the top tether bracket 20 comprises two pieces 36 and 38. The piece 36 comprises the portions 28 and 30 which are designed in one piece. The piece 38 comprises the mounting portions 32 and 34 which arc designed in one piece. The pieces 36 and 38 are welded together by weld seams 40. As can be seen in Fig. 3b, the second portion 30 extends away from the first portion 28 towards the back of the passenger vehicle. In other words, the second portion 30 is bent backwards in relation to the first portion 28 so that a high deformation space can be realized.
Figs. 4a and 4b show a third embodiment of the top tether bracket 20.
Figs. 5a and 5b show a fourth embodiment of the top tether bracket 20. As can be seen from Fig. 5b, border areas 42 of the top tether bracket 20 are tilted or twisted with respect to a middle portion 44 so that a particularly high stiffness of the top tether bracket 20 can be realized.
Figs. Ba and Sb show a fifth embodiment of the top tether bracket 20. In the fifth embodiment, border areas 42 are tilted and swapped backwards towards the back of the passenger vehicle for realizing a particularly high stiffness of the top tether bracket 20.
Figs. 7a and 7b show a sixth embodiment of the top tether bracket 20. In the sixth embodiment, the portion 30 is bent backwards with regard to the first portion 28, the portions 30 and 38 confining respective angles a.
Figs. Ba and 8b show a seventh embodiment of the top tether bracket 20. Figs. 9a and 9b show an eighth embodiment of the top tether bracket 20, and Figs. 1 Oa and 1 Ob show a ninth embodiment of the top tether bracket 20 which is configured as a load limiting element.
