Guarding against unauthorized use. - The identification plate is wholly or partly obscured by a movable brightly coloured cover plate. The identification plate i, Fig. 2, can be half covered when required by a V-shaped cover plate k hinged at one end and locked at the other end or locked at both ends. A boxform construction has slots p<1>, Fig. 6, in the casing p through which the obscuring plate q can be slid and locked in position. A two-part identification plate may be used in which one plate u, Fig. 8, is mounted on the vehicle and hinged to a movable plate t, the plates bearing the number &c. on one side and being brightly coloured on the other side. By rotating the movable plate through 360� relatively to the other plate either the number or warning colour can be shown at will.
