Wedge expanding-devices for socket fixings.- Handles are secured to hammer heads &c. bv a device consisting of two or more plates provided at their lower ends with bevelled cutting edges and slotted to engage each other crosswise. The plate 10, Fig. 1, with cutting edge 11 bevelled on both sides is slotted at 12, and the plate 13, Fig. 2, is slotted at 14 and the edge bevelled on opposite sides at 15, 16, so that when the two plates are fitted together. as shown in Fig. 4, and driven into the handle 17, tha divided ends of the plate 13 spread apart. The plate 10 may be formed with projections engaging the edge of the tool eye.
