Abstract
A grinding or stunt peg for use with a cycle or a scooter comprises a central cylindrical section 4 and an outer freely rotating tubular cover 6 which rotates on contact with a surface such as a grind rail. The cover may be retained by a spring clip 8 or by an end cap (12, figure 6) of the peg.
Description
TITLE
Rotating Stunt Grind Peg
BACKGROUND
the practice oF grinding is conimonly peribrmed in sports such as bicycling and scooting. For pertorniing this actiity, the wheel axle is extended laterally from a wheel to pmvide a support structure forthe rider. While in motion, the rider directs the Bicycle or scooter and locales thepegs (I) up onto an elongated rail (2) and traverses thelength ol the rail with the bicycle or scooterheing supportedhy the peg and then relurns to the ground. See figure 1 which shows a personparticipating in the sinai of grinding.
Description of prior art: The stuni of grinding has been known since the early t990s. Fixed pegs (3) are mounted individually to extend laterally from the front and rear axles of the bicycle or scooter. The sliding action of such pegs limits both speed and distance, while contributing to excessive wear on both the peg and the rail, See figure 2 which shows a typicat fixed peg construction.
STATEMENT OF INVENTION
The invention proposes a cylindrical peg which extends the wheel axte of a bicycle or scooter laterally and a freely rotating tubular cover which rotates upon contact with a grind rail,
ADVANTAGES
the rotating peg will increase grinding speed due to the reduced friction between the peg and the grind rail and increase grinding distance. The rotating peg will reduce surthce wear of the peg and rail when compared to tixed pegs of the prior art.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
While embodiments of this invention can take itiany different forms, specific eitibodiments thereof are shown in the drawings and will be described herein in detail with the understanding that the present disclosure is to be considered as an exemplification of the principles of the invention, as well as the best mode of practicing same, and is not intended to limit the invenlion to the specilic embodiment illustrated.
Figurc 3 & 4 illustratca an embodimcnt of thc invcntion. A rotating pcg comprises of a cylindrical central axle or hub (4) which is fittcd to the bicycle or scooter tising a concentrically threaded bore (5) to sectirely fasten the peg to the wheel axle of the bicycle or scooter, A freely otating tubular cover (6) is positioned onto the central axle (4) and captivated by an integral shoulder (7) at one end and a metal spring clip fastener () which is fitted into a retaining groove (9) at the other end.
An alternative embodiment is shown in figure 5 showing the use ofa bolt (It)) passing through a concentric shouldered hole (1 1) or counierbore to surely fhsten the peg to the bicycle or scooter, Au alternative embodiment is shown in figure 6 showing the freely rotating tubular cover (6) captivated using a cylindrical end cap (12) which isinserted into a concentricholc (13) iitthc central axlc (14). Aixilt (15) is fitted througha centre holein the cylindrical end cap (12) and the centrat axle (14) to clamp the parts together and captivate the tubular cover (6) between the cylindrical end cap (12) and the huier shoulder (16) of the central axle (14) and securely fasten the peg to the bicycle or scooter,
