DESCRIPTION SNAP FASTENER WITH LOCKING MECHANISM
5 Technical Field
[0001] The present invention relates to a snap fastener having a locking mechanism, which needs an innovative method to be opened. The present invention was developed for an opening/closing portion of clothes for dementia patients who need caretaking, and the following description will be made accordingly. However, the application will not be limited to this, and is also applicable to, for
10 example, a bag having a pocket with an upper tab, and upper tab portions for articles such as miscellaneous goods or general clothing.
Background Art
[0002] It is not unusual that a caretaker is troubled by a dementia patient who opens fasteners at the 15 sleeve, the front, the crotch portion, or the like of his/her nightwear on his/her own, takes off the clothes, and makes a filthy act. In order to prevent this, there is known to be such as a fastener with a locking function attached to said portions of clothes. For example, it is disclosed in JP-A-2005-230358, JP-A-2006-136557, JP-A-2007-301165, and the like. The fastener with a locking function is provided with a button with a lock at the end of the fastener, for example, and is 20 configured so that the button cannot be undone or the slide fastener cannot be lowered without unlocking the lock.
Disclosure of Invention Problem to be Solved by the Invention 25 [0003] The conventional techniques have a problem such as that the number of parts is large, many metal parts are used, and a key is required.
[0004] The present invention has been made to resolve the problems of the conventional techniques, and an object of the present invention is to provide a snap fastener with a locking mechanism (hereinafter it may be simply referred to as a snap fastener) that has a small number of 30 parts, use almost no metal (one portion at most even if metal is used), and does not require a key.
Means for Solving Problem
2
[0005] A snap fastener with a locking mechanism of the present invention includes a female member that is provided with an operating plate 4 that is attached on a front surface side of a first fabric, a spring 5, a base portion 6 and a support member 7 that is attached on a back surface side of the first fabric, and a male member that is provided with an engaging projection 8 that is attached on a
5 front surface side of a second fabric and a support member 9 that is attached on a back surface side of the second fabric, wherein the operating plate 4 has a partially cut-out pressing lug 42 and a pressing projection 44 provided on an underside of the pressing lug 42, the spring 5 has inner arcs 53 extending to the right and to the left that terminate with a small gap 54 between tips thereof, the gap 54 between the tips of the inner arcs 53 being widened by downward pressing force of the pressing 10 projection 44, and restored to an original shape when the downward pressing force is removed, and the base portion 6 has a space that accommodates the spring 5 (claim 1).
[0006] Preferably, the base portion 6 includes a base portion main body 61 and an extension portion 68, wherein the base portion main body 61 is fixed to the support member 7, and the extension portion 68 comes into contact with the male member 3 at at least three points, when the
15 female member and the male member are connected (claim 2).
[0007] Preferably, the base portion 6 and the spring 5 are positioned by contact between a protrusion 65 of the base portion 6 and an insertion space 57 of the spring 5, and by contact between an outer arc 51 of the spring and the base portion main body 61 (claim 3).
[0008] Also preferably, the operating plate 4 and the base portion 6 are positioned by engagement 20 of a protrusion 45 of the operating plate 4 and a recess 67 of the base portion 6 (claim 4).
[0009] It is preferable that an incision 52 is provided in a vicinity of the center of the inner arcs 53 in order to facilitate spring function (claim 5). Also preferably, due to a similar reason, a space between the tips 531 of the inner arcs 53 of the spring widens upward (claim 6).
[0010] The present invention is applicable to, besides clothes for dementia patients, an upper tab of 25 an article such as a bag, miscellaneous goods, or general clothing having a pocket that includes an upper tab (corresponds to the first fabric) (claims 7 and 8).
[0011] The present invention is further considered as a first fabric PI to which a female member is attached in a snap fastener with a locking mechanism having female and male members. The female member includes a female member 2 that is provided with an operating plate 4, a spring 5, a
30 base portion 6 and a support member 7, the operating plate 4 has a partially cut-out pressing lug 42 and a pressing projection 44 provided on an underside of the pressing lug 42, the spring 5 has inner arcs 53 extending to the right and to the left that terminate with a gap 54 between tips thereof, the gap
3
54 between the tips of the inner arcs being widened by downward pressing force of the pressing projection 44, and restored to an original shape when the downward pressing force is removed, and the base portion 6 has a space that accommodates the spring 5 (claim 9).
[0012] In the configuration according to claim 8, the first fabric can be reinforced by a hard plate 11 5 (claim 10).
Effects of the Invention
[0013] According to claim 1, the snap fastener with a locking mechanism of the present invention is configured by a female member that has four parts such as an operating plate, a spring, a base
10 portion, and a support member, and a male member that has two parts such as an engaging projection and a support member. As a result, the number of parts will be around eight in total, and almost no metal parts are used (a metal part may be used in the support member in the male member, and as a result the number of metal parts is around one), and also a key is not required.
[0014] According to claim 2, since an extension portion eliminates backlash between the female 15 member and the male member, the risk of the female member being disengaged from the male member by an unexpected movement of a patient is reduced.
[0015] According to claim 3, the base portion and the spring are correctly positioned.
[0016] According to claim 4, the operating plate and the base portion are correctly positioned.
[0017] According to claim 5, since an incision is provided in the vicinity of the center of the inner 20 arc, the spring function is facilitated.
[0018] According to claim 9, since a first fabric with the above characteristics is provided, this portion can be added at a later time, and existing general clothes can be modified to clothes for dementia patients.
[0019] According to claim 10, since an operation for pulling up the female member 2 while 2 5 pressing the pressing lug 42 of the female member 2 cannot be performed unless clearly intended, the possibility of disengagement happening by an abrupt movement of a dementia patient is reduced.
[0020] Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described with reference to the accompanying drawings.

Embodiments of the Invention
5
[0022] In a nightwear P for dementia patients shown in FIG 1, snap fasteners 1 with a locking mechanism are attached to an end portion of a slide fastener S at the font, and to an end portion of a slide fastener S at the crotch portion.
[0023] As shown in FIG 2 (a) and (b), a pull-up tab PI in which one end is fixed and the other end 5 can be pulled up is attached to the end portion of the slide fastener S at a position where a pull H is located when the slide fastener is closed. A female member 2 of the snap fastener 1 with a locking mechanism is fixed to this pull-up tab PI. Meanwhile, a male member 3 that is engageable to the female member 2 is fixed to a main body P2 of the nightwear just under the female member 2.
[0024] FIG 3 is an exploded perspective view of the snap fastener 1 with a locking mechanism. 10 It is constituted by six parts in total, the upper four parts constituting the female member 2 that is fixed to the pull-up tab P1, and the lower two parts constituting the male member 3 that is fixed to the main body P2 of the nightwear.
[0025] As for the female member 2, an operating plate A, a spring 5, and a base portion 6 are attached to the surface of the pull-up tab in order from the top, and are fixed from the underside of the
15 pull-up tab fabric PI by a support member 7.
[0026] The operating plate 4 is made of synthetic resin, a perspective view thereof is illustrated in FIG 3, and details of this part are illustrated in FIG 7. The operating plate 4 has a disk-like shape as a whole, and is provided with a gourd-shaped partially cut-out pressing lug 42 at the center of a plate 41. A bulge portion 43 that is bulging a little for being easily caught by fingers is provided at the
20 center of the pressing lug 42, and a pressing projection 44 is formed on the underside. Bar-like protrusions 45 protrude at four locations of the underside of the peripheral portion of the plate 41.
[0027] The spring 5 is made of synthetic resin, a perspective view thereof is illustrated in FIG 3, and details of this part are illustrated in FIG 8. The spring 5 is like a central cross-section of a flower bud as a whole, and outer arcs 51 that correspond to a receptacle of a bud extend to the right and to
25 the left. A small notch 52 is provided at the center between the outer arcs 51. Inner arcs 53 that correspond to a bulge of a bud extend to the right and to the left from the periphery of the incision 52, and terminate with a small gap 54 between the tips thereof. The gap 54 between tips 531 widens upward as shown in FIG 8 (f). The gap 54 between the tips of the inner arcs of the spring 5 is widened by the downward pressing force of the pressing projection 44 like the flowering of a bud, 30 and is restored to the original (at the time of forming) shape like a flower closing when the downward pressing force is removed. The incision 52 facilitates the spring function. Further, rectangular column-like protrusions 55 and 56 protrude upward at two locations on the outer arcs and at two
6
locations on the inner arcs.
[0028] The base portion 6 is made of synthetic resin, a perspective view thereof is illustrated in FIG 3, and details of this part are illustrated in FIG 9. The base portion 6 has an exterior that is like a bottomless ashtray, includes a cylinder-like main body 61 and a ring-like edge portion 62, and is
5 provided with an opening portion 63 at the center. A protrusion 65 protrudes from a opening edge portion 64 at the inner bottom portion of the main body 61. A serration portion for fitting 66 is provided at the outer bottom portion of the main body 61. Four recesses 67 are provided at the ring-like edge portion 62.
[0029] A support member 7 on the underside of the pull-up tab fabric PI is made of synthetic resin, 10 a perspective view thereof is illustrated in FIG 3, and details of this part are illustrated in FIG 10.
This simply is a plate ring 71. A serration portion for fitting 72 is provided at an opening sidewall portion.
[0030] An assembled state of the female member 2 and the pull-up tab PI is illustrated in cross-sectional diagrams in FIGS. 5 and 6. At first, the spring 5 is stored in the base portion 6. At
15 this time, the protrusion 65 is fitted into a gap 57 adjacent to the incision 52 of the spring 5, and as a result the spring 5 is positioned in the base portion 6. Next, the bar-like protrusions 45 of the operating plate 4 fit into the recesses 67 on the base portion 6 and are unified therewith, and the outer arcs 51 of the spring come into contact with the main body 61 of the base portion 6, and as a result the operating plate 4 and the base portion 6 are positioned. Further, the serration portions 66 and 72 of 20 the base portion 6 and the support member 7 fit together through the pull-up tab fabric P1.
[0031] As for the male member, it is configured by an engaging projection 8 that protrudes upward from the main body fabric and a support member 9 that supports the engaging projection 8 from the underside of the main body fabric.
[0032] The engaging projection 8 is made of synthetic resin, a perspective view thereof is 25 illustrated in FIG 3, and details of this part are illustrated in FIG 11. The engaging projection 8
includes a base bulge portion 81, a narrow neck portion 82, and a tip bulge portion 83, and a through-hole 84 is provided at the center portion in a longitudinal direction. Eight small protrusions 85 are provided on the bottom portion of the bulge portion on the bottom portion 81, and prevent slipping by digging into the fabric.
30 [0033] The support member 9 is made of synthetic resin, a perspective view thereof is illustrated in FIG 3, and details of this part are illustrated in FIG 12. It is configured by a tip-side protrusion 92 with a stopper 91, and a base 93.
7
[0034] An assembled state of the male member 3 at the main body of the nightwear is illustrated in cross-sectional diagrams in FIGS. 5 and 6. The protrusion at the tip of the support member is pressed into and fixed to the through-hole through the main body fabric.
[0035] With reference to FIGS. 5 and 6, the function and the operation method of the snap fastener 5 with a locking mechanism will be described.
[0036] FIG 5 illustrates a state in which the female and male members of the snap fastener are unlocked. As shown by the arrow in (b), when the pressing lug 42 of the operating plate 4 is pressed down by a finger from this state, the pressing projection 44 widens the gap 54 between the tips of the inner arcs 53 of the spring 5. Thereupon, the engaging projection 8 of the male member 3 can be
10 inserted, and the engagement between the female member 2 and the male member 3 is established. FIG 6 illustrates a state in which the female and male members are locked. When the finger is released from the pressing lug 42 of the operating plate 4 and pressing down is stopped, the gap 54 between the tips of the inner arcs 53 of the spring is restored and is narrowed down, and the engagement with the male member 3 is maintained by the tip bulge portion 83 working as a stopper.
15 [0037] Simply pressing down the pressing lug 42 is not sufficient to separate the female member 2 and the male member 3 in this engaged state. This is because as soon as the finger separates from the pressing lug 42, the spring 5 is restored. Therefore, in order to separate the female member 2 and the male member 3, an operation in which the pull-up tab PI is pulled up while pressing down the pressing lug 42 is required. Without knowledge of the operation method, even an unimpaired
20 person would need to repeat a trial-and-error to perform the pressing down of the pressing lug 42 and the pulling up of the pull-up tab P1 simultaneously. Much more, it would be an extremely difficult task for dementia patients.
[0038] The present invention can be modified and changed in various ways within the scope described in the claims.
25 [0039] For example, as shown in FIGS. 13 and 14, the pull-up tab PI can be reinforced by a hard plate 11 or a packing as appropriate. In this case, the operation to pull up the female member 2 while pressing the pressing lug 42 of the female member 2 cannot be performed unless more clearly intentional. Therefore, the possibility of coming off by an abrupt movement by dementia patients is reduced.
30 [0040] Similarly, as shown in FIG 15 for example, an extension portion 68 can be provided at the tip of a main body 61A of a base portion 6A. Although the extension portion 68 is a second cylinder in the example shown in the diagram, the shape thereof is not limited to a cylinder, and any
8
continuous or intermittent convex dike is sufficient. The extension portion 68 is configured to come into contact with the engaging projection 8 at at least three points. Accordingly, when a female member is combined with a male member, as shown in FIG 16, the backlash of the engaging projection 8 is eliminated, and therefore the connection is more secure. If the engaging projection 8 5 has backlash, unexpected force may be applied by rough movement of a patient, and the female and male members may become separated The extension portion 68 is for preventing this. [0041] Similarly, as for the male member, although not shown in a diagram, a packing such as egg-shaped artificial leather, for example, can be sandwiched just below the female member. Accordingly, an operation such as pulling up the female member while pressing the pressing lug 42 10 can be made easier, and thus the unlocking operation can be made easier. As a result, besides the application to caretaking, in a case where it is used in a bag or the like, for example, ease of use can be improved while also securing an antitheft function against a snatcher or the like.
