Stud - and - socket fastenings.-In fastenings in which a headed stud is engaged by the parallel arms of a double S-shaped spring contained in a socket member, and in which a push - piece with wedge-shaped ends is provided for separating the spring arms to release the stud, a plate or washer is provided to support the spring and has a central hole through which pass the .stud and the wedge-shaped ends of the push-piece. In the form shown in Figs. 2 and 3, the spring 7 has arms 11 for engaging the stud, and the push-piece 13 has wedge-shaped ends 15b for separating the spring arms, which are supported on a perforated washer 9. A second washer 12 is provided in this form to retain the spring against upward displacement when the stud is inserted. The pushpiece has a pair of lugs 14 to retain it in the socket 8 and to limit its downward movement. One part of its end 15a has parallel sides to hold the spring arms 11 in their normal position while the operative part 15b is parabolic so that the springs 11 move apart more rapidly at the commencement of the inward movement of the piece 13. The spring 7, 11. is rectangular in crosssection. In the form shown in Fig. 6, only one washer 9d is employed and this retains the spring 10a against upward movement by turned over flanges b near the central hole. The push-piece 13a has simple wedge-shaped ends.
