Abstract

A method of framing and installing a viewing panel 2, the panel frame 1 comprises an aperture member (a Fig 1) and first and second securing members (b, c Fig 1) that are parallel and spatially separated from one another, essentially forming a U shaped bracket. The first and second securing members defining an aperture for receiving the viewing panel 2. The frame maybe provided with fixing means which extends through the aperture member, preferably planar with one of the securing members, to secure the viewing panel to a door. The frame members maybe secured to the surround through adhesives, intumescent materials may also be applied to the panel frame or aperture (see black squares in Fig 4) The viewing panel is preferably a switchable window, for example those comprising multiple panes of glazing that slide relative to each other between a vision and non-vision position.
