Abstract

A silhouette facelift suture includes a hollow stainless steel tube 1 with a blunt lower end 5, an oval orifice 3 with a fine slit 4 and a small Y. shaped slit 6 at its upper open end. A longitudinal, alongside slit 2 runs along the length of the hollow tube. A separate polypropylene silhouette suture 7 has knots 8, cones 9 and a half circle non cutting small needle 10. The silhouette suture 7 is stretched and fixed into the hollow tube 1 between the fine slit 4 and the Y shaped slit 6. The fine slit 4 accommodates the suture 7 and prevents its terminal knot 8 from slipping. Preferably the alongside slit 2 prevents the knots 8 and cones 9 from passing through the hollow tube 1.

Description

INTELLECTUAL
. .... PROPERTY OFFICE Applicalion No. GB1223394.6 RTM Dare:JlJanuary2OH The following terms are registered trademarks and should be read as such wherever they occur in this document: Silhouette facelift Silhouette suture Intellectual Properly Office is an operaling name of Ihe Patent Office www.ipo.gov.uk Super silhouette facelIft suture This invention rëlátes to a super silhouette facelift suture. The.
use of the ordinary silhouette suture represents a minimal invasive techmque for facial tissue suspension It is composed of eight inch long needle with blunt lower end. The needle is made of stamless steel A twelve inch long 3 0 polypropylene suture is attached to its terminal end. The suture contains 6 cones spaced with 6 knots eight m.m apart. it is ended with small half circle non -cuffing needle.
The procedure involves a temporal incision for subcutaneous insertion of the sutures. The long blunt needle is inserted under the skin through the temporal incision. Local anesthesia and some sedation is used to perform the procedure.
An exit point is required to get the needle out of the skin of the face. This is done with the deployment of each suture. Each suture has got its own needle.
To overcome this, the present invention proposes a disposable mcomplete hollow stainless steel tube which can do the task without the nced for exit points Howeiver temporal incision is required. Unlike the classical silhouette suture, all the sutuies which are used in one session can be deployed with one tube.
The suture is separate from the tube and it includes cones and knots similar to the classical silhouette suture.
Procedure The procedure is started with subcutaneous infiltration with local anesthetic. The suture is slightly stretched to tighten the loose knots. It is introduced into the hollow tube through its alongside slit, the terminal part of the suture which is free of cones and knots is used. The suture then is pulled down the tube to expose the knot which is required to be fixed. The knot is fixed to the fine slit of the oval orifice which is situated near the round terminal end of the needle. The suture is now stretched inside the tube and fixed at the fine slit of the oval orifice and the Y shaped slit of the upper opened end of the tube.. This knot may be tied twice to prevent shthng over the fine slit Excess knots are removed at this stage before the msertion of the loaded tube.
The tube is inserted through the temporal incision and the suture is deployed at the required position. This is done by releasing the suture from the Y shaped. slit. The tube is then pulled out after the thumb and index have been applied over the terminal end of the tube in order to increase the stability of the terminal knot into the tissues. Engagement of the cones to the tissues is done by gentle pulling of the suture with one hand and contouring the face skin with the other hand.
Each two sutures are tied together to the deep temporal fascia for proper tissue suspension.
Bone wax can be used to close the oval orifice of the loaded tube before insertion to avoid any tissue injury durmg insertion.
The oval orifice is directed upward during insertion toward the skin for the same purpose.
A suitable plastic disposable handle can be used in certain condition like buttock lift for easier insertion of the suture.
The invention will flow be described solely by way of example and with reference to the. accompanying drawings ir which: Figure 1 shows an incomplete hollow tube with an oval orifice and a fine slit near to its blunt lower end, and a Y shaped slit at its upper opened end, and a polypropylene suture uth cones and knots, Figure 2 shows the hollow tube is loaded with the polypropylene suture, Figure 3 shows the classical silhouette suture.
In figure 1, a hollow tube 1 which is made of stainless steel is eight inch long. It includes alongside slit 2 and a small oval orifice 3 with a fme slit 4 near to a lower blunt end 5. An upper Y shaped slit 6 is situated at its upper opened end.
A polypropylene suture 7 is. separate and contains knots 8, cones 9 and a curved non -cuffing small needle 10 at its terminal end similar to the classical silhouette suture.
Figure 2 shows the polypropylene suture 7 which is stretched an.d fixed into the hollow tube I between the fine slit 4 by the knot 8 and the upper Y shaped slit.
Figure *3 shows the classical silhouette suture. The long needle 11 is eight inch long and is made of stainless steel. its blunt lower end 12 reduces tissue trauma on msertion. An exit point is required to get the needle 11 out of the face skin to establish the deployment of the suture.
The polypropylene suture 7 is 12 inch long aid is attached to the upper end of the long needle 11. It has the knots 8 and the cones 9. There are 6 knots and 6 cones. The needle 10 which is attached to the terminal end of the suture 7 is small, half circle arid non -cutting.
