Abstract

A device that is used for removing corks from wine bottles, jars or similar without requiring a corkscrew, a lid remover or similar. Inserted at the same time as the cork is placed into the bottle neck, its straps 1 positioned between the neck of the bottle 5 and the cork 3, it is attached to an '0' ring 2 to provide extra leverage which runs underneath the cork between it and the contents of the bottle. A portion of the device remains outside the bottle or jar to act as a handle or pull strap that can be pulled to easily remove the cork from the wine bottle jar or similar. Horizontal straps 7, 8 may also be provided, or a sleeve like strap (9, fig 6) may be provided.

Description

Description
Cork Removing Pull Strap The invention is a device for removing a cork from a wine bottle jar or similar without the need to use a corkscrew or lid opener. This device, and the removed cork, can be re-inserted to seal the jar or bottle and opened again using the device. It is an easy way of opening a bottle of wine also a jar or similar by simply pulling on the device.
The device is a strap attached to an 0' ring inserted when the cork is inserted into the bottle or jars neck. It can be made in many different ways using different materials such as silk, nylon, cotton, fabric, synthetic plastics, stainless steel, cork or similar in the form of a strap that partially covers the cork This design can work with all corks including synthetic corks. The extractor strap can be pulled gently to remove the cork from the bottle or jar, thus eliminating the requirement to open with a corkscrew.
The friction of the strap against the inside of the bottle or jar's neck and the position of the 0' ring beneath the cork provide leverage to remove the cork with ease yet leaving enough of the cork base to be exposed which, in the case of it being used for wine bottles, allows the wine to breathe -Fig 1 is an extractor device for removing a cork or other type of stopper from a bottle or jar neck. The invention comprises a handle pull strap [1], attached to an 0' ring 121 that is placed into a bottle, normally a wine bottle or jar, at the time the stopper, normally a cork (31 is inserted with the 0' ring (2] hooking underneath the cork [3] and its base [6J leaving a length of the strap, or handle pull strap (4], sufficient to grip by hand, normally a minimum of two fingers, which is not inserted into the bottle (5].
The cork 131 or stopper can then be removed by pulling on the handle [4].
Once the cork has been removed from the wine bottle or jar the device can be re-used, the cork or stopper is placed into the extractor device prior to it being re-inserted into the bottle or jar's neck.
Fig 2 shows a side view of the cork in the device as it would be prior to being inserted into the bottle or jar (51 with the handle pull strap (1] positioned down the side of the cork (3], the 0' ring [2) at the bottom of the cork (3] and the handle (4] free at the top of the cork [3] which is shown also as an aerial view in FIG 2a.
A simpler version of the device (Fig 3) is to have a single strap [1] without the 0' ring which, in the case of being used for wine bottles leaves more of the (Fig 3a) cork base (61 exposed allowing the wine to breathe a little more if desired.
In order to reduce the effort required to remove the cork from the bottle (Fig 4) an additional strap [7] can also be added to the device that wraps around the cork [3] giving additional grip and leverage. A second strap (81 can also be added to enhance the grip on the cork and reduce the effort to remove it still further if required (Fig 5). A further option (Fig 6) is to have a sleeve like strap [91 almost fully encompassing the cork (31-These additional straps can be used either with or without the use of the 0' ring [2].
Searches 1. GB661438 -This cork extractor device is a spring prong which digs into the side of the cork.
This is very much different to our pull strap which has the option to grip the cork using an 0' ring underneath the cork. Also a spring prong is very impractical and would be very dangerous if dislodged into the bottle.
2. CN2121416 -This is just a wire attached underneath a cork and the positioning of the wire is the only similarity. Again wire is impractical material for this device.
3. US2001/0013500 Al -Very similar to a corkscrew this is an apparatus for opening a bottle sealed with a cork stopper, which would be used after our pull strap has been inserted at production stage. Therefore no similarity.
4. 1JS6240608 81 -Again this is an extractor for removing a cork from the inside of a bottle. No similarity to our pull strap.
5. FR2747998 Al -This is a hook device positioned actually inside the cork which is destructive to the performance of the cork. Our pull strap takes leverage at the base of the cork and does not enter the cork at any point, which again is very different.
6. 08190401488 (A) -Again this uses a wire bail or gripping device having inturned ends which are embedded in the cork. Again our pull strap is totally different as we do not enter the cork at all.
7. US1341680 -Again this is a hooking device inserted into the cork to remove from a bottle.
8. C1301700 -Again this is inserted into the cork rather than positioned outside like the pull strap.
9. CN2594299 (V) -This refers to a wine bottle rather than a device that pulls a cork from a bottle.
10. US2009205466 Al -This is a cork extractor used to remove broken corks from a bottle, a wire attached to a plunger, again very different to our pull strap.
11. CN201165464 -This is an anti-drop cork extractor again to be used after the cork has been inserted into the bottle. No similarity to the pull strap
