Abstract

An air vehicle has a propeller for driving the vehicle forwards and a Custer duct in front of the propeller. Shutter means are provided for adjustably closing an axially-extending region over the Custer duct to selectively reduce the static aerodynamic lift that it generates from the passage of air drawn in by the propeller. The shutter means comprises a part-cylindrical shutter or door mounted for rotation about an axis parallel to, or coincident with, the axis of the propeller shaft.
