Abstract

An energy efficient kettle is powered by high power laser diodes. The kettle comprises a sealed compartment 1K which contains blue laser diodes 1F, heat conducting material 1I and plug 1G. The kettle sits upon transformer 1H. When the unit is powered up, laser light is emitted onto the heat conducting material 1I which heats up the liquid in the chamber of the kettle.

Description

LASER KETTLE LIQUID HEATING APPLIANCE
This invention relates to an appliance for heating water.
When people want to have a drink of hot tea or coffee, a conventional kettle is used to boil water.
As hot water is needed on a regular basis, the conventional kettle is boiled many times over the course of a day. Conventional kettles currently use a heating element, which is used to boil the water in the chamber of the kettle. This process consumes a lot of electricity.
To overcome the problem of boiling water in an energy efficient way, the present invention proposes the use of high power laser diodes as a lower cost alternative.
The current model uses 5 high power laser diodes, more diodes could be installed in the array which would reduce the boiling time but increase energy use.
Also the layout of the laser diodes could be adjusted under the heat conducting material to find optimum efficiency for the process of boiling water.
The laser diodes could be positioned inside the chamber within waterproof heat conducting sphere, mounted from the base of the appliance, this would allow the liquid to be heated from a central area.
The chamber could be horizontal in shape to reduce the depth of liquid to heat, it would heat the water more quickly.
The laser kettle liquid heating appliance is an energy efficient kettle that uses high power laser diodes as the heating element. Standard kettles use a lot of electricity, the laser kettle heats water to boiling point. This process uses much less electricity than conventional kettles which saves consumers money on electricity bills and is better for the environment.
The kettle looks similar to a standard kettle in design, with a spout near the top (1A), opposite near the top there is a handle (1D) with on/off power switch (1C), and on top is a hatch with an open and close mechanism (1B).
Inside at the bottom there is a sealed compartment (1K) which contains the blue laser diodes (iF), heating conducting material (11) and plug (1G). This model uses 5 X 1000mW blue laser diodes at a wavelength of 445nm-455nni. On the very bottom there is a transformer (1H) which the kettle sits on to complete the connection. The power supply cable (1E) feeds the appliance.
When the unit is powered the laser diodes activate and 5 beams are emitted onto heat conducting material.
The heat is transferred to the opposite side into the kettle chamber, this in turn boils water. When the water reaches boiling temperature the power turns off and the heating element disables.
This model has the advantage of low power consumption, convenient operation, long lifetime and high reliability.
