Abstract

A door security device having a bolt 7 which engages a bolt channel 11 and allows a door to open a minimum amount to address a caller. The device may have a vertical hinge 1 and back plate which fixes to a door frame and brick work. The device may have a lever knob 3 and lever arm 6 to manually operate closure of the door. A cylinder night latch 5 may also be provided. The bolt 7 may have a groove 9 around its end to ensure the door cannot be released until the door is in its closed position. The device can help prevent a forced entry onto the property by allowing the owner to forcibly close the door by means of the lever device.

View from top of door in open position Qccription The present invention relates to a device for securing doors of houses, flats and businesses with a mechanic lever device attached to the door and frame to prevent unwanted intruders.
The object of the invention is to provide a device which offers another layer of door security to the standard door lock and chain at the point of an intruder trying to force an entry. If an intruder comes to the door a bolt (7) is engaged in the bolt channel (11). This ensures the door cannot be opened at the point of entry. On opening the door the bolt (7) and bolt channel (11) engages to ensure the door is only opened to a minimum to allow for the property owner addressing who the caller is. If an intruder tries to force the door at this point the property owner is able to put weight on the lever which will ifilly close the door. The lever device is attached to both the brickwork and the door frame to ensure the device cannot be ripped off the door frame.
A standard door chain does not have this element and is vulnerable to a forced entry.
Key suanary of invention The vertical hinge (1) is attached to the hinged back plate (2) which fixes to the door and frame. The main apparatus is on the other side of the hinge.
The hinge allows the main apparatus to move away from the wall while the back plate is secured. The lever knob (3) is an additional security feature which will only become necessary if an intruder tries to force an entry. At the point the property owner pulls down the lever arm (6) the mechanism pushes the bolt (7) and door to the closed position to prevent the intruder entering. This will automatically push back the cylinder night latch (5) into the mortice or keep for cylinder night latch (4) automatically engaging the door in the locked position.
The bolt (7) has a groove around the end which when bolted into the bolt channel in the open position ensures that it cannot be released until the door is in the closed position. The assembly encompasses a bolt fixing plate (8) Groove around the end of the bolt (9) Bearing at the end of the bolt (10) The bolt end (10) is moved laterally by the user moving the lever (13) to allow the bolt end (10) to engage with channel (11) located on the face (12) of the hinged section of the locking device. When the door is opened the hinged section (12) of the locking device incorporating the channel (11) pivots upon the hinge (1). As the bolt end (10) travels along the channel (11), the lug (19) on the lever (3) moves from an upright position as shown in figure 4 to a downward position as shown in figure 3. To aid the rotation and positioning of the cog (17), two smaller cogs (16) are located around the perimeter of the cog (17).
(15, 16, 17, 18) The bolts for securing the two small cogs and the main lever arm cog. The bolt secures to the cog apparatus which is made of high density steel. The apparatus provides a secure winch effect which closes the door.
Ann for moving bolt along channel (19) when operating the lever arm (6) when this is pulled down. The bolt (7) is moved back along the channel to close the door. The catch (20) is kept with the cylinder keep (14). Fixing holes for hinged back plate (21).
