Abstract

A cabin-size travel case 1 has a telescopic handle 9 which is pivotally mounted to the exterior of the case by a bracket 8 such that the handle can be pivoted away from the case and then extended in a lengthwise and widthwise direction to provide a bed frame structure. When not in use as a bed, the handle 9 may be retracted and held against the case by retaining clips 2 which may be made of plastic. When clipped against the travel case, the telescopic handle 9 may be partly concealed by a zipped pocket [2, Figure 1]. The handle 9 of the travel case may be extended to 72 inches long (aprox. 182 cm) to provide the bed base. The handle may also pull apart widthways to provide a width of 19 inches (approx. 48 cm). Fold-down legs 6 may also be provided, along with further removable legs 11 which are clipped on to the frame to provide extra support The bed base 5 may be formed from fabric which is attached to the frame work of the handle 9.

IUP CASE

This invention relates to a travel case that mcorpontes a built in bed.

When travelling he it for business or pleasure, one of the biggest problems is delays. Although we can't prevent the delays we can make them a bit more conifiwtahle whilst we wait. What we have here is a travel case with a bed that is built in to it which forms part of the case but with out compromise to luggage space. In fact due to the design and relocation of the handle from the inside of the case to the out side of the case there is actually more rfl(fl'fl inside the case, on average an extra two inches in depth is gained.

As you can see here, this is a normal cabin size travel case which looks no different to any other travel case. The handle (Q is still retractable like a standard case except on the rear of the case you will see a zipped pocket (4.

When the zips () are opened which are allocated on both sides of the rear of the case. you will see that the handle is held in place \%lth two retaining clips (2) which are made of sli mug durable plastic.; When the handle (y) is pulled away from these clips and pulled forward the handle extends to 72' long which gives Vol.1 the overall length of the bed, When the handle is pulled apart this then allows the handle (bed) to become 119' wide. rflfl is achieved by using the bracket (H) which is hollow and allows the tube to move aPa1t then locks in to place with two allocaling fl5 (i4, whilst at the other end of the handle it is tellescopc to allow for handle to be made wider, Also built in to the handle are two fold down legs (6) which support the bed when the bed is pulled out and is in position.

As the handle is extended the fabric which is used for the bed base (,) which is attached to the frame work automatically full's in to place and is held in place 1w the telescopic arms (4) which are passed down both sides of the bed base fabric.

Once the bed has been opened up then the four removable legs(u) Are clipped in to 1)13cc to provide extra support. All of the material used for the frame work of the bed and handle are made of strong light weight alurnini urn.

Claims

CLAIMS1. A travel case which incorporate a built in bed. Which is attached on the out side of a standard size cabin case.
2. A travel case as per claim 1, which is able to provide a bed for accessional use when travelling.
3. A travel case as per claim i, that has a built in mechanism that alh)ws the case to provide a built in bed.
4. A travel case as per claim, has a strong hut light weight frame work that allows the handle to have a duel! purpose. Not only is this used for pulling the case akng hut is also used to form the frame
5. A travel case as per claim 2, provides the facility to he able to sleep using the bed that is attached to the miter case.
6. A travel case which case still he used for caring clot hing etc inside with out any interference with the bet! mechanism which is attached to the out sick of the case.
7. Provides a quick and instant place to sleep.
