Abstract
A slot assembly for mounting around or fitting into a mail slot of a door comprises a frame having a slot, a flap 12 for covering the slot, the flap being pivotable about a pivot axis located in a middle portion of the flap between its top end and its bottom end. In a first embodiment (figure 1) the slot assembly further comprises an actuator 17 configured such that pushing the actuator towards the flap actuator causes the flap to be pivotally opened. In a second embodiment (figure 7) the slot assembly the frame further comprises a first frame end surface 116 and the flap further comprises a first flap end surface 363corresponding to the first frame end surface. In this embodiment the flap and frame are configured such that substantially no wind can pass through the flap when the flap is in a fully closed position. When the flap is not in its fully closed position a space - W- is formed between the first flap end surface and the first frame end surface, the space comprising a first opening through which wind can come into the space and a second opening through which wind can go out the space, and the first opening is smaller than the second opening such that wind impacting on the flap urges the flap into the fully closed position.
