TITLE
Pushchair, Buggy, Stroller & 3 Wheeler Footmuff Cover & Protector (Cover)
BACKGROUND
This invention relates to protecting footmuffs on pushchairs, buggies, strollers and 3 wheelers.
Most pushchairs, buggies, strollers & 3 wheelers have footmuffs fitted to keep the child warm in cold weather. When footmuffs are used on pushchairs, buggies, strollers & 3 wheelers, they can become dirty and damp, particularly at the lower half closest to the wheels where mud and water can splash up onto the footmuffs.
Although most footmuffs are washable, they can be quite tricky and time consuming to remove. Furthermore, once they are removed they can be quite bulky and time consuming to wash and dry. This can mean that during the winter months when the baby or child needs the footmuff most, it either remains on the buggy dirty and/or damp, or it is not available for use on the pushchair, buggy, stroller or 3 wheeler because it is being washed and dried.
STATEMENT OF INVENTION
To overcome these problems the present invention proposes a Footmuff Cover & Protector (Cover) which can surround the lower part of the footmuff and be attached or detached to the buggy or stroller easily and quickly using a height adjustable fastening mechanism at the rear of the Cover which would be attached to the safety harness on the buggy or stroller. The Cover is machine washable.
ADVANTAGES
The Cover will protect the footmuff and keep it clean and dry.
The Cover will be easy to attach and remove.
Preferably, the Cover will be constructed from light weight water resistant material.
Preferably the Cover will roll up small enough that it can be kept with the pushchair, buggy, stroller or 3 wheeler at all times.
Preferably, the front of the Cover will fasten using popper fastenings with the ability to fold down when undone to allow the child easy access out of the footmuff although the fastening means could also be provided by other means, such as Velcro, tie fastenings or zip.
Preferably, the back of the cover will have adjustable means to vary the height of the Cover using popper fastenings, although this height fastening adjustment could also be provided by other means, such as Velcro or tie fastenings.
DRAWINGS
Figure 1 shows the front elevation of the Cover when the front flap is fastened.
Figure 2 shows the side elevation of the Cover showing the fastening mechanism of the front flap.
Figure 3 shows the height adjustment fastening mechanism when it is unfastened which is at the rear of the Cover and the front flap when unfastened.
Figure 4 shows how the height adjustment fastening mechanism operates and shows the mechanism fastened.
Figure 5 shows the side elevation of the Cover showing an alternative fastening mechanism of the front flap.
Figure 6 shows the side elevation of the Cover with another fastening mechanism of the front flap.
Figure 7 shows the side elevation of the Cover with another fastening mechanism of the front flap.
Figure 8 shows an alternative joining mechanism for the height adjustment fastening mechanism which is at the rear of the Cover.
Figure 9 shows another alternative joining mechanism for the height adjustment fastening mechanism which is at the rear of the Cover.
In Figure 1, the edge of the Cover 1 is secured to the front flap 4 using the popper fastenings 2. The foot muff is suitably covered to protect it from mud and water splashes when the front flap is secured.
In Figure 2, the edge of the Cover 1 is secured to the front flap 4 by pressing the popper fastening top 2 onto its popper fastening base 3.
in Figure 3, the height adjustment fastening mechanism consists of three equal length flaps with a popper fastening base on each piece 5, adjacent to three equal length flaps with a popper fastening top on each piece 6 so that 5 and 6 can be joined together.
The Cover will be attached or detached to the pushchair, buggy, stroller or 3 wheeler by placing and joining 5 and 6 around the lower harness piece under the existing footmuff on the buggy or stroller (the tower harness piece normally rests vertically between the child's legs when sitting in a pushchair, buggy, stroller or 3 wheeler), The front flap 4, when undone will rest open so that the child can easily be put in or taken out of the footmuff.
In Figure 4, the height of the Cover can be adjusted by placing the lower harness piece on the buggy or stroller 10 in incision 7, 8 or 9. The diagram shows the lower harness piece 10 placed in incision 9.
In FigureS, an alternative fastening mechanism is shown to secure the front flap using Velcro. The Velcro pad on the underside of 12 would be placed over the Velcro padi 1 to secure I against the front flap 4.
In Figure 6, another alternative fastening mechanism is shown to secure the front flap using tie fastenings. The tie fastening 13 would be tied to tie fastening 14 to secure 1 against the front flap 4.
In Figure 7, another alternative fastening mechanism is shown to secure the front flap using a zip. The zip 15 would operate to join 1 and 4 together or to open the flap 4.
In Figure 8, an alternative joining mechanism for the height adjustment fastening mechanism is shown to join 5 and 6 together using Velcro pads. The three flaps 6 would each have a Velcro pad on the underside and would be placed over each flap on to secure 5 and 6 together.
In Figure 9, another alternative joining mechanism for the height adjustment fastening mechanism is shown to join 5 and 6 together using tie fastenings. The three flaps on both 5 and 6 would each have a tie fastening on the end, by tying the tie fastening on flaps 5 and 6 together 5 and 6 would be secured together.
