Abstract

247,598. Budd Manufacturing Co., E. G., (Assignees of Ledwinka, J.). Feb. 13, 1925, [Convention date]. Doors for passenger vehicles. - An upholstered panel 22 is secured to the inner face of a vehicle door by the engagement of metal tabs or lugs 26, 28 at the upper and lower edges in sockets 17, 18 formed in the inner surface 12 of the door, or in an integral or separate door sill thereon. The panel is preferably of plywood and may be bent to allow the tabs to be sprung into place, when it is then forced into the position shown in Fig. 2, presenting a concave outer surface, and lying in a concavitv 16 of the inner face of the door. In a modification, the upper edge of the panel is secured beneath an overhanging edge formed on the door sill, the upper tabs being dispensed with. A covered opening 31 may be provided in the panel to form a pocket, the bottom of which is formed by a wooden or other element 33.
