Abstract
A manhole cover M has an opening or aperture N for the disposal of pet or animal waste or excrement. The manhole cover M includes a further cover or plug E which can be used to seal the aperture N. The aperture N may include a recessed sealing groove K with a locating seal lip G, the seal provided between the plug E and the cover M may be air-tight. The aperture may have a chute J extruded from its underside for directing waste material into a manhole chamber. The plug E may be cylindrical and may engage the cover M by screw thread means, its own weight under gravity, or by a turn and click mechanism. The manhole cover may have handles H.
Description
Re-Patent Application for Pet Waste & Cassette Toilet
Home Disposal Point. (Description)
This device is a type of manhole cover which could replace existing manhole covers usually found within the curtilage of most domestic dwellings. Many houses in the United Kingdom utilise manhole covers that offer an access point to where drains from different areas of domestic homes meet. These drain areas are also referred to as inspection chambers. The main features of this proposed manhole cover include a smaller circular hand operated easily removable plug/cover within the main cover. On the underneath of proposed item there will be a tubular extrusion guiding any waste deposits to the gully beneath. It is further proposed this idea be manufactured in materials and dimensions that will cunently comply with specifications adopted by the building industry in the United Kindom, to wit: withstand existing pedestrian loads. It is therefore envisaged that outside dimensions will be 600mm x 450mm and similar sizes; made in toughened plastic or metal material. The attached drawings are scaled to 600mm x 450mm. (5:1) The device is principally three components.
1. A manhole cover designed to recess a smaller plug/cover and locating groove that will include an airtight seal.
2. A main frame that will provide an airtight seal.
3. A plug cover that is removable by hand that sits in the smaller recess of the larger manhole cover. The plug cover will be designed in a way that enables easy manual removal and insertion by lifting.
It will be seen from the attached three page scaled drawings that there are five detailed sketches of the proposed components. Fig 1 & Fig 2 show the manhole cover frame. Fig 3 & 3A show the plug/cover. Fig 4 & Fig 5 show ther main manhole cover. Fig 1 and Fig 2. show face and side elevation of manhole cover frame. It will be seen that the dotted line representing the inner wall of seal is slightly lower than perimeter wall which represents the thickness of the main lid and will enable the eventual flush fit of the main cover. It will be seen clearly from Fig 3 & Fig 3a. that it is proposed that toughened plastic (or metal) cylindrical cover/plug will sit in airtight sealed groove. This seal will either be achieved by gravity or weight of plug bearing down on recessed groove or a turn and click action or a combination of both. There will be a handle built in to the plug/cover as also there will be handles for the main cover as shown and indicated in Fig 4. and Fig 5. The seal to main frame will adopt current practices. Either screwed down or close fitting into main frame groove.
When correctly installed this simple idea will allow anyone with use of their arms to remove the smaller cover/plug and dispose of pet waste into the main sewage system and then refit the airtight smaller cover thus disposing of the waste.
The idea would also permit the simple disposal of cassette toilet contents and similar.
