Abstract

A manhole cover is provided having a portion which is hingedly connected to a main part so that the hingeable part can be lifted up for inspection of the drain and for disposing waste into the drain. Waste is guided into the sewer beneath the manhole cover by a cone-shaped guide hopper which is preferably made from plastics and suspended from the underneath of the cover or frame. <IMAGE>

Description

DISPOSAL OF PET WASTE Hinged inspection cover for the disposal of pet waste into the main sewer run. Disposing of waste in an economical and hygenic manner.
The aim of the invention is to provide a small opening in the lid, which can be opened physically by most people with the minimum effort.
The invention will now be described by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawing.
Fig 1 Frame to suit manhole sizes already in existence, which may have a variation to different locations. Approximate size 450 x 600mm oblong, and 450morn dia circular or sized to meet demands of new manholes on domestic and commercial properties.
Fig 2 Hinged lid which fits snugly into the frame. With equal or unequal opening lid as option 1, 2 or 3. Butt ninges constant across complete width of lid similar to piano hinges, to give desired strength and sealing ability. Complete cover can still be:-removed if necessary.
Fig 3 Two forms of opening lid:- Fig 3a. Flick up handle and turn releasing lid and manually opening to desired height. Fig 3b. Inserting key into lid and lifting.
Fig 4 Cone type effect made from a heavy duty polythene, plastic or rubber, giving general movement in direction of main drain. Sleeving into frame to support itself and act as sealent between frame and lid.
(Flexy Cone). Size of cone at top equal to opening size, reducing in size to approximately 50 - 70mm. The idea of the cone is: (1) To direct the waste into the main channel (2) Safety point of possibly a child or animal falling into the manhole if left open.

Claims (3)

  1. Claims HINGED INSPECTION COVER FOR THE DISPOSAL OF PET WASTE 1) A manhole in which one part is hingedly connected to a main part so that the hingeable part can be lifted up for inspection of the drain or for disposing of waste into the drain.
  2. 2) A manhole cover as claimed in Claim 1 in which the hingeable part is connected by a piano type hinge to the main part.
  3. 3) A manhole cover as claimed in Claim 1 ozl 2 which includes a conical deflector supported from the frame of the cover for deflecting waste into the gully channel of the drain.
