DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Referring to Figs. 1-4, a pair of gardening shears 10 in accordance with the preferred embodiment of the present invention comprise two handles 12 pivotally connected with each other, two blades 11 connected with the two handles 12 respectively, and two handle covers 13 each detachably mounted on a respective one of the two handles 12.
Each of the two handles 12 has a plurality of locking holes 122 each extending through a whole thickness of each of the two handles 12. Each of the locking holes 122 of each of the two handles 12 has a stepped shape and has a peripheral wall provided with a stop shoulder 123. Each of the two handles 12 has a side provided with an elongate mounting groove 121 connected to each of the locking holes 122.
Each of the two handle covers 13 is mounted in the mounting groove 121 of the respective handle 12 and has an inner surface provided with a plurality of contractible locking blocks 132 each inserted into and releasably locked in a respective one of the locking holes 122 of the respective handle 12.
Each of the locking blocks 132 of each of the two handle covers 13 has a peripheral wall provided with a plurality of flexible positioning heads 133 and a plurality of elongate slits 136 defined between the positioning heads 133. The positioning heads 133 of each of the locking blocks 132 form a substantially conical profile, and abut and are stopped by the stop shoulder 123 of the respective locking hole 122. Each of the locking blocks 132 of each of the two handle covers 13 has a central portion provided with a receiving recess 134 located between the positioning heads 133 and connected to the elongate slits 136 so that the positioning heads 133 of each of the locking blocks 132 are retractable into the receiving recess 134 when the positioning heads 133 of each of the locking blocks 132 are compressed. Each of the two handle covers 13 has an outer surface provided with a soft jacket 131 which is integrally formed on each of the two handle covers 13 by injection molding. Preferably, the soft jacket 131 of each of the two handle covers 13 has an anti-skid surface to provide an anti-skid effect.
When in use, the positioning heads 133 of each of the locking blocks 132 are expanded outwardly at a normal state so that the positioning heads 133 of each of the locking blocks 132 abut and are stopped by the stop shoulder 123 of the respective locking hole 122 as shown in Fig. 4 to lock each of the locking blocks 132 of each of the two handle covers 13 in the respective locking hole 122 of the respective handle 12. On the contrary, when each of the locking blocks 132 of each of the two handle covers 13 is subjected to a pressing force, the positioning heads 133 of each of the locking blocks 132 are retractable into the receiving recess 134, so that the positioning heads 133 of each of the locking blocks 132 are detachable from the stop shoulder 123 of the respective locking hole 122 to unlock each of the locking blocks 132 of each of the two handle covers 13 from the respective locking hole 122 of the respective handle 12.
The gardening shears 10 further comprise a plurality of locating pins each inserted into and detachably locked in the receiving recess 134 of the respective locking block 132 of each of the two handle covers 13 to position the positioning heads 133 of the respective locking block 132 of each of the two handle covers 13 so that the positioning heads 133 of each of the locking blocks 132 cannot be retracted into the receiving recess 134 by limit of each of the locating pins 135.
In assembly, when each of the locking blocks 132 of each of the two handle covers 13 is inserted into the respective locking hole 122 of the respective handle 12, the positioning heads 133 of each of the locking blocks 132 is retracted into the receiving recess 134. After the positioning heads 133 of each of the locking blocks 132 pass through the stop shoulder 123 of the respective locking hole 122, the positioning heads 133 of each of the locking blocks 132 are expanded outwardly by the elastic force of each of the locking blocks 132 of each of the two handle covers 13 so that the positioning heads 133 of each of the locking blocks 132 abut and are stopped by the stop shoulder 123 of the respective locking hole 122 as shown in Fig. 4 to lock each of the locking blocks 132 of each of the two handle covers 13 in the respective locking hole 122 of the respective handle 12. Finally, each of the locating pins 135 is inserted into and locked in the receiving recess 134 of the respective locking block 132 to position the positioning heads 133 of the respective locking block 132 so that the positioning heads 133 of each of the locking blocks 132 cannot be retracted into the receiving recess 134 by limit of each of the locating pins 135 to prevent the positioning heads 133 of each of the locking blocks 132 from being detached from the stop shoulder 123 of the respective locking hole 122 so as to lock each of the locking blocks 132 of each of the two handle covers 13 exactly and closely.
On the contrary, after each of the locating pins 135 is detached from the receiving recess 134 of the respective locking block 132, the positioning heads 133 of each of the locking blocks 132 are compressed inward to detach from the stop shoulder 123 of the respective locking hole 122 so as to unlock each of the locking blocks 132 of each of the two handle covers 13 from the respective locking hole 122 of the respective handle 12 so that each of the locking blocks 132 of each of the two handle covers 13 can be detached from the respective locking hole 122 of the respective handle 12 so as to remove each of the two handle covers 13 from the respective handle 12 to facilitate a user replacing each of the two handle covers 13.
Accordingly, a user only needs to remove each of the two handle covers 13 from the respective handle 12 to replace each of the two handle covers 13 and the respective soft jacket 131 without having to detach and replace each of the two handles 12 so as to decrease the costs of fabrication of the two handles 12 and to enhance the lifetime of the gardening shears.
Although the invention has been explained in relation to its preferred embodiment(s) as mentioned above, it is to be understood that many other possible modifications and variations can be made without departing from the scope of the present invention. It is, therefore, contemplated that the appended claim or claims will cover such modifications and variations that fall within the true scope of the invention.
