Abstract

A staple gun comprises a firing member 10, a magazine assembly 2, a guiding member 20, an adjusting member 30 and a controlling member 40. The guiding member 20 comprises a contact portion 21 that guides the firing member 10, and a receptacle 22 with an open end. The adjusting member 30 comprises a stepped receiving side (31, Fig 4) and an abutted side 32, and is pivotally attached to the controlling member 40. The controlling member 40 comprises a first pressing portion (41) and second pressing portion (42) protruding from the first pressing portion (41), with the first and second pressing portions (41, 42) selectively abutted against the abutted side 32 to drive the receiving side (31) to move with respect to receptacle 22 in order to allow various kinds of nails and staples to be received in the space defined by the receiving side (31), the contact portion 21, and the magazine assembly 2.

2 Background of the Invention
3 1. Field of the Invention
4 The present invention relates to a staple gun, with various kinds of S staples and nails being applicable to the staple gun.
6 2. Description of the Related Art
7 Referring to Europe patent No EP1740351B1, it discloses a staple gun to 8 which four kinds of nails and staples-one staples and one cable staples with 9 different thickness, brad nails and pin nails are applicable. By operating a tO slide element to move longitudinally, an adjusting element is selectively in 1 1 contact with the nails or staples which are received in the staple gun so that 12 the different kinds of the nails or staples can applicable to the staple gun.
13 However, in order to adjust the staple gun for several kinds of nails and 14 staples, users have to operate the slide member first and then control a fixing element which is installed onto the slide element to fix the slide 16 member in position. And this kind of staple gun is not convenient to be 17 operated.
1$ Further, the fixing element installed onto the slide element causes the 19 whole structure of the staple gun to be too complicated as to increase manufacturing cost.
22 Summary of the Invention
23 According to the present invention, A staple gun which consists of a 24 magazine assembly, a lever arm, a firing assembly and two shell assemblies, I with the firing assembly, the magazine assembly and the partial lever arm 2 being provided inside of the joined two shell assemblies, and with the firing 3 assembly installed at the front of the joined two shell assemblies; the firing 4 assembly comprising a firing member to which the lever arm is installed so that the lever arm can drive the firing member to fire several kinds staples 6 and nails; a guiding member including a contact portion formed on a side 7 thereof adjacent to the firing member and a receptacle penetrating 8 therethrough and opened to an end thereof, with the contact portion guiding 9 the firing member to move longitudinally with respect to the staple gun; an 1 () adjusting member including a receiving side, which is stepped and has a 1 1 receiving portion, and an abutted side, with a space which is defined by the 12 receiving portion, the contact portion and the magazine assembly allowing 13 various kinds of nails and staplers to be received therein; and a controlling 14 member pivotally coupled to the adjusting member and including a first pressing portion and a second pressing portion protruding from the first 16 pressing portion, with the first and second pressing portions selectively 1.7 abutted against the abutted side to drive the receiving side to move with 1$ respect to the receptacle.

Detailed Description of the Preferred Embodiment
2 With reference to Figs. 1 and 2, they show that a staple gun includes a 3 firing assembly 1, a magazine assembly 2, a lever arm 3, a first shell 4 assembly 4 and a second shell assembly 5. The first and second shell assemblies 4 and 5 are symmetrically joined together. The firing assembly 6 1 and the magazine assembly 2 are received inside of the joined first and 7 second shell assemblies 4 and 5. An end of the lever arm 3 is inserted into 8 the joined first and second shell assemblies 4 and 5 and coupled to the firing 9 assembly 1. The firing assembly 1 is driven by the lever arm 3 to fire staples received in the magazine assembly 2.
ii Referring to Figs. 3 through 5, the firing assembly 1 includes a firing 12 member 10, a guiding member 20, an adjusting member 30 and a 13. controlling member 40. Preferably, the adjusting member 30 of the firing 14 assembly 1 is made by a powder metallurgy method and the other components of the firing assembly 1 are manufactured by a press forming 16 method for simply, easily and rapidly processing and fabricating. Hence, it 17 saves cost. Compartments 401 and 501 are respectively formed at the 1$ front of the first and second shell assemblies 4 and 5 and joined to each 19 other for receiving the firing member 10. Observation holes 402 and 502 are respectively formed through lateral walls of the first and second shell 2 assemblies 4 and 5 and adjacent to the firing assembly 1 for observing that 22 whether staples are received in the staple gun or not. A slot 503 is defined 23 through the lateral wall of the second shell assembly 5 and adjacent to the I observing hole 502. A rib 504 is formed on an inner surface of the front of 2 the second shell assembly 5.
3 The end of the lever arm 3 is inserted into the joined shell assemblies 4 4 and 5 and coupled to the firing member 10 for driving the firing member 10 S to fire staples. The guiding member 20 includes a contact portion 21 6 formed on a side thereof that is abutted against the firing member 10. A 7 receptacle 22 penetrates through the guiding member 20 and opened to an 8 end of the guiding member 20. The contact portion 21 guides the firing 9 member 10 to move longitudinally with respect to the staple gun. The adjusting member 30 is partially inserted into the receptacle 22 of the ii guiding member 20 and disposed opposite to the firing member 10. A 12 receiving side 31 and an abutted side 32 are respectively defined on two 13. sides of the adjusting member 30. The receiving side 31 forms with a 14 receiving portion 3 11. Preferably the receiving side 3 1 is stepped. The iS receiving portion 3 11 of the receiving side 3 1 and the contact portion 21 of 16 the guiding member 20 are arranged to provide various kinds of nails to be 17 applicable to the staple gun. The controlling member 40 is pivotally 1$ coupled to the abutted side 32 of the adjusting member 30 opposite to the I 9 guiding member 20. The controlling member 40 has a first side adjacent to the adjusting member 30 and a second side opposite to the first side 21 thereof. First and second pressing portions 41 and 42 are formed on the 22 first side of the controlling member 40 and the second pressing portion 42 23 protrudes from the first pressing portion 41. The first and second pressing 24 portions 41 and 42 selectively press the abutted side 32 of the adjusting I member 30 to drive the adjusting member 30 to insert through the 2 receptacle 22 of the guiding member 20.
3 A driven portion 11 and a firing portion 12 are respectively defined at 4 first and second ends of the firing member 10 and opposite to each other.
S The end of the lever arm 3 is inserted to the distal end of the driven portion 6 11 so that the lever arm 3 can drive the firing portion 12 to fire staples.
7 The abutted side 32 forms with a first surface 321 and a second surface 8 322 and the first surface 321 protrudes from and is surrounded by the 9 second surface 32. An orifice 33 is formed through the adjusting member 30 from the receiving side 31 to the first surface 321 of the abutted side 32.
ii The controlling member 40 further includes a pivot 43 separated 12 therefrom and a controlling shaft 44 extending from the periphery thereof 13 The controlling shaft 44 can adjust positions of the first and second pressing 14 portions 41 and 42 with respect to the first surface. The pivot 43 is inserted through the controlling member 40 and coupled to the orifice 33 of 16 the adjusting member 30. The controlling shaft 44 partially exposes from 17 the slot 53 outwardly and is adapted to be operated by users. A limited I $ portion 45 is formed on the second surface of the controlling member 40 I 9 and defined between the pivot 43 and the controlling shaft 44.
T11e controlling member 40 adjustably pivots between a first position 21 and a second position with respect to the adjusting member 30. The two 22 pressing portions 41 and 42 are selectively abutted against the two surfaces 23 321 and 322 of the adjusting member 30 for adjusting a distance between 24 the receiving side 3 1 and the niagazine assembly 2.
I Referring to Figs. 6 and 7, they show that the controlling member 40 is 2 in the first position by operating the controlling shaft 44. The first side of 3 the controlling member 40 is fittingly abutted against the abutted side 32 of 4 the adjusting member 30 and the first and second pressing portions 41 and 42 are respectively abutted against the first and second surfaces 321 and 322 6 of the abutted side 32. The receiving side 3 1 is disposed in the receptacle 7 22 and in the meanwhile, the distance between the receiving portion 3 11 8 and the magazine assembly 2 allows thick staplers A to be received in the 9 receiving portion 311. It is easy to adjust the distance between the receiving portion 311 and the magazine assembly 2 via the controlling ii member 40 but a secondary operation is not further needed to fix position of 12 any component.
13 Referring to Figs. 8 through 10, they show that the controlling member 14 40 is in the second position by operating the controlling shaft 44. The limited portion 45 of the controlling member 40 is blocked by the rib 504 of 16 the shell assembly 5 as to prevent the controlling shaft 44 from further 17 rotating automatically. The first pressing portion 41 is detached from the 1$ first surface 321 of the adjusting member 30 but the second pressing portion 19 42 is still abutted against the first surface 321 of the adjusting member 30, hence the receiving side 3 1 is further inserted into the receptacle 22 and the 21 distance between the receiving portion 3 11 and the magazine assembly 2 22 and it allows thin staplers B to be received in the receiving portion 3 11.
I Referring to Fig. 11, it shows that brad nails C are applicable to be 2 received between the receiving portion 311 and the magazine assembly 2 3 while the controlling member 40 is in the second position.
4 Referring to Fig. 12, it shows that pin nails D are applicable to be S received between the receiving portion 3 11 and the magazine assembly 2 6 while the controlling member 40 is in the first position.
