Abstract
The double clip or peg 1 includes one end for holding items such as clothing (e.g. socks, gloves), paper or card and a second opposing end for attachment to a clothesline, screw or nail. A shared central hinge 3 connects both ends of the clip together. The clip may include a single or multiple tooth/teeth 5 which may be inverted to slide onto garments whilst preventing garments from being pulled off. Various size teeth may be used at the attachment end to create a ratchet action with different sizes of clothes line or screw/nail Finger grips 4 may be added to help the clip to function.
Description
A Double Clip This invention relates to a double clip with a shared hinge, to function as a garment or paper clip.
Garments such as socks or gloves or other items that are separate but are kept in pairs, are often separated due to processes of washing, drying or storage.
This takes time and frustration sorting out the separated garments back into pairs.
To overcome this the clip at one end designed to slide over the pair of socks/gloves whilst keeping them together during washing and drying.
The other opposing clip designed to clip onto a washing line for drying or screw/nail attached to a wall for storage.
This clip will keep socks, gloves or other garments in pairs whilst in the process of washing, drying or storing, saving time and frustration sorting out.
The hinge helps keep clip size to a minimum otherwise to large a clip being to obtrusive, thus increasing risks of snagging or tagging laundry, which could pull the clip off. Using one hinge for both clips means now other fixing is needed i.e. cord, cable etc. joining clips together being susceptible to wear & tear or breakage.
The invention will now be described by example and reference to the accompanying drawings: Figure 1 Details the clip.
Figure Ia Clip form 1 changed for alternative function such as for holding paper.
Figure 2 Shows the clip attaching a pair of socks to a washing line.
Figure 3 Shows the clip attaching a pair of gloves to a wall or wooden frame by means of screw.
Figure 4 Shows different tooth form (1) with change to hinge (3) to give greater flexibility, finger grip(4) re-shaped to give improved handling.
Reference Figure 1 The clip forms 1 & 2 are designed to suit different tasks.
The clip 1 shows the teeth designed in such away that garments made of wool, cotton or synthetic materials can slide through the gap created by opposing teeth 5 (this can be increased by applying pressure on finger grips 4, due to hinging effect at 3) whilst preventing garments from pulling off, due to teeth bedding in rather than sliding into the material, the clip can be prised off in a certain way by hand. The clip form 1 can be altered to suit a different function, as in Fig. 1 a where the clamping action of the two jaws can hang paper to a wall or line.
The clip 2 shows a different form, this clip is designed to clip onto a diameter form of various sizes such as a clothes line or screw/nail, this can be pushed or pulled off, strength of clip created by tooth form of various sizes.
The clip is preferably made of a material creating elasticity in hinge area 3 whilst providing repetitive use without fear of fatigue or breakage. This material must also provide strength and lightness that will prevent damage to machinery such as a washing machine or tumble dryer.
Finger grips 4 are for ease of handling and to ease open clip jaws (5) to help slide onto garments and removing.
Claims (4)
- Claims 1. A double clip where one end is designed for holding and the opposing end for attaching, such as a clothes line or screw/nail with both clips functioning from a shared central hinge, created by the elasticity in the material.
- 2. A clip as claimed in claim 1, where the clip used for holding an item of clothing is made of either single or multi-tooth design, the teeth inverted so pairs of garments are easily pushed on, though difficult to pull off and where the clip for attaching is made of various size teeth creating a ratchet type action, this allows for different size clothes line or screw/nail.
- 3. A clip as claimed in claim 1, where as the clips function for holding garments can be altered to hold paper, card or such like by means of changing the teeth to a more flatter design so creating a clamping face.
- 4. A clip as claimed in claim 1, where finger grips are added to help facilitate the functioning of the clip.
