Abstract

A kinetic energy recovery system for motor vehicles comprises a hydraulic motor, rams and leaf or other springs. When the vehicle is to be slowed, a valve is opened and the hydraulic motor activates a hydraulic ram which in turn acts on a leaf spring as a store for kinetic energy. The valve can be opened to allow the leaf spring to act on the ram whose oil in turn drives the hydraulic motor which in turn powers the differential. Thus recovered kinetic energy can be released for propelling the vehicle.

Description

DESCRIPTION
KINETIC ENERGY RECOVERY IN MOTOR VEHICLE BY MEANS OF HYDRAULIC
MOTOR, HYDRAULIC RAMS AND LEAF SPRINGS.
WHEN THE VEHICLE IS TO BE SLOWED OR BROUGHT TO REST THIS IS
ACHIEVED BY MEANS OF A HYDRAULIC MOTOR MOUNTED ON AN AXLE
AND DIFFERENTIAL. A VALVE IS OPENED AND THE MOTOR (HYDRAULIC),
ACTS TO ACTIVATE A HYDRAULIC RAM WHICH IN TURN ACTS ON A LEAF
SPRING, SLOWING THE VEHICLE AND STORING KINETIC ENERGY, WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STOPPED OR SLOWED AS NECESSARY, THE VALVE CAN, HAVING LOCKED THE RAM, EITHER ALLOW OIL TO CIRCULATE FREELY IN A RESERVOIR OR BE OPENED TO ALLOW THE LEAF SPRING (OR ANY OTHER TYPE BEING USED E.G COIL) TO ACT ON THE RAM WHOSE OIL IN TURN
DRIVES THE HYDRAULIC MOTOR WHICH IN TURN POWERS THE
DIFFERENTIAL, RELEASING THE ENERGY OR RECOVERING THE KINETIC ENERGY AND PROPELLING THE VEHICLE.
