Abstract

A washable oven protector tray for the bottom of an oven is made of 3ml grade heat resistant silicone, has side wings that fit flush to oven side walls to prevent food spills, liquids or drips from running down the oven walls onto the floor of the oven, and raised front and back edge spillage retainers to a base of the tray to prevent food spills from leaking on to the floor of the oven. A range of protector sizes can fit different ovens.

Description

Washable Silicon Oven Protector Tray.

This invention relates to a product that protects the bottom of an oven from food spills and residue whist the oven is in use.

When cooking certain food items in an oven, it is common for food spills to occur on the bottom of the oven floor and you will be left with food residue which is hard to clean off.

Conventional methods of dealing with this problem involve the use of harmful chemicals to remove the build up of food residue, these chemicals are not only harmful to the user but also to the environment and are time consuming to use and do not always remove all of the cooked on food residue and therefore require more applications of the chemical cleaner.

Another method that is currently available are liners for the bottom of the oven floor, these liners are comprised of a flat sheet, sometimes larger food spills leak over the sides of these liners on to the floor of the oven cavity and again the use of chemical cleaners would be necessary, also these liners have a tendency to curl up at the edges and flap around when used in a fan assisted ovens.

To overcome these problems, the present invention proposes a washable silicon oven protector tray that sits in the bottom of the oven floor protecting it from food residue build up. The oven protector tray is designed with raised edges so that any food spillages that occur will not leak on to the floor of the oven cavity. The oven protector tray is easily removed after each oven use to aid the cleaning process or it can be left inside the oven cavity and simply be wiped clean. As the oven protector is made from flexible silicone any food spillages can easily be removed by bending the silicone and then simply wiped off with a wet cloth and detergent solution. Or for the standard sized ovens, it can be placed in a dish washer to be cleaned.

This Invention is made from 3ml heatproof silicon up to 280 degrees. The silicone used is 100% food grade and is made from recycled silicone. The oven protector shown here is for a standard sized oven but larger sizes will be available to cater for ovens of different sizes.

Apart from manufacturing/supplying standard size units as mentioned above, we also intend to supply custom made units that comply with the design specifications of most manufacturers ovens, similar to the system in place with present day vacuum cleaners, whereby different size bags can be bought for different makes of cleaner. Thus, model specific protectors will be available at oven point of purchase as an additional accessory or at most supermarkets or similar retailing establishments. In addition, they can be bought directly online.

This oven protector tray is an adaptation of my previous invention (Application no GB1003148.2) to allow for ovens that have a built in self cleaning surface on the sides of the oven cavity walls or for ovens that have Telescopic sliding shelves. Or for any other type of oven that will not allow the previous oven protector to fix to the sides of the oven cavity walls. Please see Figure 6-for reference purposes only.
