Abstract

246,419. Atwood, H. N. Oct. 28, 1925. Disc wheels; spring wheels. - Rim flanges 2 for a pneumatic tyre are formed by bending over the flared edges of two wheel sections 3, each section being formed of plies of veneer 4 alternating with bonding plies 5 of rubber, rubbered fabric, or the iike. The tvre seats on a soft rubber cushion 10 fitted between the flared edges of the sections, and transverse bolts 11 may secure the rim flanges against spreading. A facing ply 8 of rubbered fabric is applied in the inner and outer faces of the sections as shown. In a modification, the cushion 10 may be formed in two halves grooved in their opposing faces to form an annular air chamber. Specification 201,491 is referred to.
