Abstract

A solar water heater is mounted on a moveable stand of framework. Preferably, the mobile solar water heater 1 comprises a solar collector 2 and a hot water storage tank 7, which are mounted to a rigid framework or stand 3. The stand may be fitted with a means of mobility such as swivel castor wheels 5. The water heater is preferably connected by flexible pipes or hoses 4 to an adjacent property or dwelling. The flexible pipes or hoses may be fitted with quick release couplings 8 to allow for quick and simple connection and disconnection. Preferably, a mechanical temperature gauge is fitted directly to the tank so that the stored water temperature can be monitored.

Description

Mobile Solar Water Heater This invention relates o a.rnobile solar water beater.
Traditionally, solar c�iectors have been mounted on the roofs of buildings, which, because of their physical orientation, are often unable to make best use of direct sunlight, and therefore solar energy. Coupled with signiflcant installation costs, this can make solar water heating cost -ineffective for many.
To overcome these problems, the present invention proposes a solar water beater mounted on a nioveable. framework or stand It utilises flexible ppework to allow it's connection to a property/dwelling and the necessary distributionpipeworL This allows the solar collector to be placed at the most advantageous angle for solar gain. Re-positioning is also possible. It also allows the unit to be disconnected and stored away during winter months, when solar gain is negligible and there is a risk of freezing.
The advantages of a mobile solar water beater are A\. Correct positioning of the solar collector in relation to the sun's position will result in best use of the available solar energy.
B\. With minimal installation costs and disruption, this should provide a cost effective water heating solution.
C'. Preferably the flexible hoses will be fitted with quick release couplings to allow for easy connection/disconnection of the unit.
D\. Preferably the framework I stand will be fitted with wheels, castors or some other means of allowing easy positioning or re-location.
E\. The unit can be stored under cover through the winter months, when freezing may be an issue, due to negligible solar gain and low ambient temperatures.
An example of the invention will now be described by referring to the accompanying drawing.
Using a framework( or stand) 3, mounted with swivel castor wheels 5, a solar collector 2 is mounted at an appropriate inclination. When positioned correctly towards the prevailing sun 6, the resulting hot water produced is stored in atank 7. Thetank can be of either the i)irect" or 1ndirect' type. The tank is connected by flexible hoses 4 to pipewoit at an adjacent pnperty/dwelling. The flexible hoses may have quick release couplings fitted 8.

  1. Claims 1. A solar water heater mounted on a moveable stand or framework.
  2. 2. A solar water heater according to claim!, which is connected to an adjacent property / dwelling and it's water services distribution pipework y means of flexible pipes or hoses.
  3. 3. The flexible hoses according to claim 2, to be fitted with quick release couplings to allow for simple connection and disconnection of the unit.
  4. 4. A solar water heater according to claim!, which because it is sited at ground level allows the collector to be regularly and easily cleaned, to maxixnise the performance of the unit.
  5. 5. A solar water heater according to claim!, which because it is sited at ground level allows a mechanical temperature gauge to be fitted directly to the tanlc so that monitoring of the stored water temperature can easily be achieved.
  6. 6. A solar water heater according to claim!, which because it is sited at ground level allows excessive heat gain to be controlled by collector position or some form of shading.
  7. 7. A solar water heater according to claim!, which does not rely on any form of electrical connection to operate.Amendments to the claims have been filed as follows 1. A solar water heater mounted on a moveable stand or framework.The water heater has an integrated storage tank, which is connected to an adjacent property / dwelling and its water services distribution pipework by means of flexible pipes or hoses.The flexible pipes or hoses are fitted with quick release couplings to allow for simple connection and disconnection of the unit.2. A solar water heater according to claim 1, which because it is sited at ground level allows the collector to be regularly and easily cleaned, to maximise the performance of the unit.3. A solar water heater according to claim 1, which because it is sited at ground level allows a mechanical temperature gauge to be fitted directly to the tank, so that monitoring of the stored water temperature can easily be achieved.4. A solar water heater according to claim 1, which because it is sited at ground level allows excessive heat gain to be controlled by collector position or some form of shading.5.
