Abstract
A paint brush comprises a ferrule including ridges providing a lip and a band which completely surround the ferrule and enable it to engage with an attachment to provide a seal. The attachment is a frusto-conical paint guard 3 which is arranged to stop a stops drips and runs going onto the person decorating and the surrounding working area. The lip is smaller for ease of pushing on and off the attachments and the band which the attachments are stretched over, creates a tight seal. The guard may further comprise a flap 1 designed to prevent paint going onto adjoining surface areas, wherein the flap may be flexibly attached 2 to the guard.
Description
bescription The unique design of the Ferrule and attachments for the paint brush.
The Ferrule has been designed so attachments can be placed onto the paint brush.
The unique change in design of the Ferrule has a small lip pointing outwards, then the lip returns inwards which is joined to a band this completely surrounds the Ferrule (As shown in diagram).
The small lip pointing outwards near the bristles on a paintbrush will stretch the material which the attachments are made from allowing the opening of the attachment to be pushed over the lip and continue to be pushed downwards stretching the attachment onto the band to create a seal and be locked in place.
The attachments are removed by being pushed upwards off the band and continue to be pushed and stretched over the lip and off the paint brush.
The lip shape of the Ferrule has been designed for ease of pushing on and off attachments while holding the attachments in place because the attachments will hold the paint therefore preventing paint spillage.
The band surrounding the Ferrule has been designed to be longer than the opening of the attachments which fit over the Ferrule. The Flex in the material which the attachments are made from that fits over the Ferrule stretch over the lip and onto the band, by stretching the material onto the band this will give a tight seal.
Attachments for a paint brush which fit onto a paint brush with the unique design of the Ferrule.
Paint Guard fits onto a paint brush to stop a mess being made when painting it is made from a one piece mould in plastic or similar material and is shaped surrounding the bristles on a paint brush. It has Frustro -cronical shaped sides angled away from the bristles on a paint brush an open top and is sealed to the paint brush by the unique design of the Ferrule.
The design allows Paint guard to hold paint which has dripped or has run from the bristles on a paint brush (As shown in the diagram).
Another attachment part of this attachment is the same design as paint guard but has a flap attached which is the same surface area of the side or front of the bristles on a paint brush.
It is manufactured from a one piece mould in plastic or similar material. It has a joint between the flap and paint guard this joint is made from thin plastic or similar material.
Although this attachment is made from a one piece mould the joint being thin allows movement -Flexibility of the Flap.
This attachment is designed to prevent paint going onto adjoining surface area's where it is not intended.
With paint on a paint brush it is very difficult when painting to prevent paint going onto another joining surface area i.e. when painting a wall cutting in between the wall and ceiling can prove problematic (As illustrated in drawings on sheet 3).
The Flap on paint guard has movement when painting the flap is placed into the channel and moved along with the paint brush because the joint between the flap and paint guard is made of thinner material this will allow movement to angle the paint brush.
Because the flaps surface area is made of plastic or similar material this creates a barrier so only one side of the flap paint can be applied.
All the excess paint will run back into point guard which is part of this attachment.
This attachment is designed to create a professional finish and make decorating much easier and cleaner.
