Abstract

A prefabricated patio panel consists of a patio panel frame 1 with slab supports 2. Optionally, the frame includes a means 3 for fixing to other patio panel frames, preferably with bolts or rivets. The patio panel frame support may allow for sand or another base material to be quickly levelled, ready for slabs to be placed. The frame is preferably constructed of a non-corroding metal.

Description

Prefabricated Patio Panels This invention relates to prefabricated patio panels and frames and a method of constructing a patio using prefabricated patio panels or frames.
When laying a patio, it can be very difficult to keep each of the slabs properly aligned and level. When a patio is laid it can take some time for the patio to be strong enough to withstand use. If laid as part of a development project it can cause considerable delay, as while it is set, it prevents access or use of the area it covers.
To overcome this, the present invention proposes patio panels that come in sections and can be fixed together to easily form a patio or other floor surface that is very quickly level, aligned and strong enough to withstand use.
The patio panel frame is preferably constructed of a non-corroding metal, although other suitable materials could be used, into which patio or paving slabs can be set.
The patio panel frame includes a means of being fixed to other patio panel frames.
The patio panel may consist of a patio panel frame with slabs or other patio surface pre-set onto the frame.
The patio panel frame incorporates supports that firmly hold any standard size of patio or paving slab and keep it aligned and level.
The patio panel frame supports allow for sand or other base to be quickly levelled ready for the slabs to be placed.
The patio panel frame may be constructed so as to incorporate other patio or paving designs.
The patio panel frame may be constructed so as to support any size of patio or paving slab.
The patio panel frame may include a means or fixings to allow the frame to be anchored to the ground or set into concrete.
The patio panel frame may include a means or fixings to incorporate a barrier to prevent weed growth under or between slabs or patio panels.
The invention will now be described by an example and with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 shows a patio panel Figure 2 shows slab supports Figure 3 shows a means of fixing patio panels together Figure 4 shows a section of patio panel with slabs in place on the supports In figure 1, a patio panel consists of patio panel frame (1) with slab supports (2), a means of fixing patio panel frames together (3) and a means of levelling sand or other base (4).
Patio panels come in sections and can be fixed together to easily form a patio or other floor surface that is level, aligned and very quickly strong enough to withstand use.
In figure 2, a section of patio panel frame (1) showing slab supports (2).
In figure 3, a section of patio panel frame (1) showing slab supports (2) and a means of fixing patio panels together (3), in this case either bolted or riveted.
In figure 4, a section of patio panel frame (1) showing slab supports (2) and slab set in place (5).
