Abstract

A tidal power generator has a concrete wall defining an enclosure with a number of turbine assemblies mounted in cylindrical capsules in the wall. The turbines may be connected to generators by a belt arrangement incorporating a one-way ratchet so that the generator always rotates in the same direction.

DESCRIPTION
An efficient 2-way generation of electricity from tidal action.
An enclosure is built on the shorelines of any suitable location (see Figure 1).
It is built to above the highest tide-level.
On the wall enclosure, just below low-tide level, capsules are implanted. These are designed to take factory-built impeller modules. These capsules are tubular cylindrical casings.
More than one capsule would be implanted depending on the size of the enclosures (see Figures 1 and 3).
This impeller assembly allows water to flow in and out of the enclosure from tidal movements (see Figure 2).

A wheel on the impeller is connected to a turbine via a gearbox. The gearbox is designed to give forward drive to the turbines.
There are two possible gearboxes as indicated on the drawing by references CB1 and GB2.
The systems are so designed to give approximately 3000 rpm to the turbines.
