Description

LIVING UNIT FOR A COLLECTIVE LODGING FACILITY WITH A CAPACITY OF
STORING MULTIPLE BEDS
Field of the Invention
[0001] This invention relates to a collective lodging facility for such as hotels and dormitory and in particular, it relates to a living unit of such a collective lodging facility where each living unit is equipped with a bath and a toilet and is capable of storing multiple beds therein.
Description of Related Arts
[0002] Generally, lodging facilities such as hotels and dormitories has individual living units used for individuals private spaces. For that purpose, each living unit preferably comes with a toilet and a bath. However, in order to have as many guests as possb!e, preferably, space area of each room is as small as possible and each floor has as many living units as possible. As a means to achieve the above-object, a unit format, where a toilet space and a bath space are included in one room, is widely used. By placing a bath and a toilet in a single composite space, a maximum space can be reserved for other purposes.
[0003] However, the unit format room having the bath space and the toilet space therein tends to include a smaller bath tub and toilet than a regular size bath tub and toilet, which raises a problem of affording a relaxed atmosphere for bathing and washing. To some users of these facilities, locating a bath and a toilet in a single space gives a less than a satisfactory impression in a hygienic sense. It is desirable if it is possible that a bath and a toilet be located separately so that one is not is not visible from the other.
However, allocating a separate space for each toilet and bath occupying more space in the room, which gives an issue of reducing the space available for other purposes such as a bedroom or an abbreviated office. Not enough space for a bedroom also raises a problem of storing multiple beds therein for a twin room.
[0004] Among buildings designed as collective lodging facilities, some of the facilities are in a curved form to provide a curved appearance. In a building with such curved appearance, in order to form approximately equal floor size of living units corresponding to the curved surface, adjacent living units must be divided by a wall located on a radius and laterally extending between a center of the floor surface and an end of the floor surface.
Specifically, the adjacent living rooms are separated by the wall to form fan-shaped living room with the outer side being wider than the inner side. For the collective lodging facilities in with the curved surface section as stated above, effective use of the space utilizing the curved surface section is desired. An example known in the art is described in unexamined Japanese Utility Model Publication No. 6-82304.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0005] An object of this invention, as keeping the minimal size of the living room, is to secure separate and sufficient spaces for bath and toilet and to have the bedroom space with the capacity of storing multiple beds.
[0006] The living unit for a collective lodging facility, with a capacity of storing multiple beds, according to this invention, is such that the living unit is wider at a back side thereof than an entrance side thereof and is positioned along a curved surface section of the collective lodging facility, wherein a toilet space and a bath space are arranged next to each other respectively in order in a depth direction from the entrance to the back side of the living unit at one dividing wall of tw facing dividing wa!!s, both of which function as dividing walls to separate said living unit from adjoining living units; a space other than for the toilet and the bath until the other dividing wall is for beds and an opening; and multiple beds are placed in the bed space.
[0007] Also, another living unit for a collective lodging facility with a capacity of storing multiple beds according to this invention, wherein the bath space has a wash stand and a bathtub arranged next to each other respectively in order in the depth direction from the entrance to the back side of the living unit; and a longitudinal direction of the bathtub is almost parallel to a width of the living unit.
[0008] Because of the design described above, this invention is able to achieve the following advantages: [0009] <a> A living unit of this invention can provide a small living unit but allows efficient allocation and partition for the bath space, the toilet space, the bed space, and the opening space, which enables to secure more bed space for multiple beds to be stored therein.
[0010] <b> The bath space and the toilet space are arranged separately within the living unit, which makes the living unit hygienic and perceptual.
[0011] <c> Because the bath space and the toilet space are arranged separately, a relatively large bath tub and toilet may be used, thus offering greater latitude for bathing, washing and defecation.
[0012] <d> The toilet space, which can be a relatively small space, and the bath space, which generally requires a large space, are aligned on a line between the entrance and a back side of the living unit at one dividing wall side of the living unit, which enables to effectively utilize the space as taking advantage of the characteristics of the living unit with the wider space at the rear.
[0013] <e> Because the bed space and the desk space are arranged side-by-side along the other dividing wall, an almost rectangular space that almost coincides with the width between the entrance to the back of the living unit is secured as the bed space, thereby allowing multiple beds being stored therein..
[0014] 4> The bath space is arranged so that the longitudinal direction of the bath tub is almost parallels the width of the unit, thereby allowing effective use of the space with wider at the back.
[0015] <g> The toilet does not come into view of a person while bathing, which allows a pleasant bathing experience.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
[0016] The above and other objects of the present invention w beccmc rcady apparent by reference to the following detailed description when considered in conjunction with the accompanying drawings wherein: [0017] FIG. 1 is plan view of a living unit; [0018] FIG. 2 is overview diagram of a living unit; and [0019] FIG. 3 is a plan view of one floor of the living unit.
PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS OF THE INVENTION
[0020] <1> Floor Structure of the Building [0021] FIG. 3 is a plan view of one living unit situated in the building A whose entire appearance is in a cylindrical shape; In FIG. 3, three elevators 1 are positioned at the center of the building A, and multiple living units B are arranged along a circumferential line at peripheral end portions of the building A. The living units B are divided by dividing waIls 2 that trace a radius extending from a center of the building A and are aligned along the peripheral end portions. Accordingly, the respective living unit B is positioned at the periphery of the building A, and therefore all living units B are located on a curved surface.
A passage 3, which is positioned between the center of the building A and the living units B, goes around the building A and connects to an elevator passage 4 in front of an elevator 1. A space between the elevator 1 and the passage 3 is in an open ceiling form, and a hand rail 21 is installed along the passage 3. As stated above, the dividing waIl 2, which divides the adjacent living units B, traces the radius extending from the center of the building A, i.e., extending from the center of the building A to outside thereof, and multiple dividing walls 2 are formed radially, which gives fan-shaped living units B, which is wider at the outer side of the building A than the inner side of the building A. The living unit B is accessible from the passage side inside the building A by opening a door 5, and a window 6 opens at an outside wall of the building A. The window 6 is a bay window, which gives a feeling of larger room space.
[0022] <2> Arrangement [0023] A divider 7 is extending from one wall 2a (at the left side in FIG. 1) of left and right walls 2 and 2 and divides the toilet space 8 and the bath space 9, both are arranged in the order of the entrance and the back side of the living unit B. A space other than the toilet space 8 and the bath space 9 is separated by a divider 10. The bed space 11 and the passage space 12 are extending from the divider 10 (left side in FIG. 1) dividing the toilet space 7 and the bath space 8 from other spaces.
[0024] <3> Toilet Space [0025] The toilet 8 is installed in the toilet space 8. The toilet space 8 is accessible through a folding door 14. A locker space 22 is positioned in front of a piping pacc located along the dividing wall 2a at a door 5 side of the toilet space 8.
[0026] <4> Bath Space (0027] The washstand 15 and the bath tub 16 are installed in the bath space 9. The washstand 15 is installed on an artificial marble counter. The bath tub 16 is installed in such a manner that a longitudinal direction thereof is facing the width direction of the living unit B, specifically, the bath tub 16 is placed at the widest part at the farthest part of the living unit B. In this embodiment, the bath tub 16, measuring 1,350 mm or more in length, is placed at the farthest end of the living unit B. As such, the toilet space 8, which occupies a relatively small space, is located at the side of the entrance and the bath space 9, where long bath tub 16 is located, at the back of the living unit, thereby utilizing the characteristics of the living unit C, in which the width increases as moving toward the back thereof. The bath space 9 is separated from the bed space 11 by a partially temper glass divider 10, the bath space 9 is accessible from the temper glass door 17 installed at the opening of the divider 10. The temper glass divider 10 and the opening door 17 functions to show the entire space larger.
[0028] <5> Bed Space [0029] Two beds 18 are installed in the bed space 11. Because the toilet space 8 and bath space 9 are positioned on the side of one dividing wall 2a, a rectangular space with a uniform width that extends from the entrance to the back of the living unit B is set aside for easy-to-use bed space 11. In the embodiment, an entire area of the living unit is 15 m2 and has a capacity to hold two beds, each with 1200 mm width and 2000 mm lingth. Furthermore, a space between the foot side of the bed 18 and the divider 10 is used as the passage space 12.
[0030] <6> Abbreviated Office Space [0031] A laminate lumber polyurethane counter 19, curved to become wider toward one end thereof, is positioned under the window 6 at the outer side of the living unit B A chair 20 or other items may be positioned facing the counter 19. The passage space 12 near the counter 19 can be used as the abbreviated office space, i.e., a work space or a study space.
[0032] It is readily apparent that the above-described embodiments have the advantage of wide commercial utility. It should be understood that the specific form of the invention hereinabove described is intended to be representative only, as certain modifications within the scope of these teachings will be apparent to those skilled in the art.
