Abstract

An illumination device 4 fits within the body of a spirit level 1. The illumination device is activated by a push button 7 and when activated illuminates the spirit level vial 2 to make it easier to view. The unit may be sealed to prevent water/dust intrusion. The unit will also contain batteries or a solar panel. Illumination housing will be made from either plastic/rubber/metal or any mixture of materials.

Description

Spirit Level viewing aid.
This invention relates to a device which enables the view glass or vial within a spirit level to be viewed in any conditions more effectively by the user When builders/plumbers/general workmen etc or the diy enthusiast are performing a such task that calls for the aid of a general spirit level, the view glass or vial that contains the bubble which tells the user when a surface etc is level can in some conditions, be it low light or dark surfaces, the bubble can be quite difficult to see.
To overcome these problems, the present invention proposes a device housed within the spirit level to illuminate the vial.
The illumination of the vial is preferably provided by a lighting device housed beneath the vial The illumination device may be a switched LED circuit or by an other means relative to illuminating the vial. The device may be solar powered, battery powered or powered by any other means. The device is activated by a push button directly below the vial. Alternatively, the lighting of the vial can be achieved by the solution within the vial being a Bioluminescence solution. A mixture of luminal, cobalt and water could be used in this instance, however this would be used with the addition of a separate UV light to achieve a greater neon effect.
The device may be removable to enable cleaning, replacing or changing batteries if such device is battery powered.
The Invention will now be described solely by way of example and with referenced to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 shows a spirit level in which an illumination device is fitted directly behind the vertical vial and directly below the horizontal vial.
Figure 2 shows a view of how the device may be fitted into the spirit level with the aid of a purpose made housing.
In figure 1, an illumination device 4, is fitted directly below the vertical vial 2 and horizontal vial 2, within the body of the spirit level 1.
Figure 2, shows how the device 4, may be secured into the spirit level 1, by means of a housing 3 that holds the illumination device 4 and is clamped into place by means of a cover plate 5 and fastening screws 6 This leaves the exposed button 7 that turns the device on/off.
This is just one method that the device can be housed within the spirit level, others means of securing could be push fitltapered fitting etc.

Claims (4)

Claims.
1. An illumination device that fits within the body of a spirit level. When the illumination device is turned on the light that is emitted illuminates the vial within the spirit level.
2 An illumination device according to claim I that is battery or solar powered.
3. An illumination device according to claim 1 that is sealed to prevent dustlwater intrusion.
4. An illumination device/housing according to claim I to be manufactured from rubber/plastic/metal or a combination of any materials.
An illumination device according to claim I that is removable from the spirit level to aid changing of batteries..
