Abstract

A pipe chamfering device comprises a conically shaped chamfering member 1 surrounded by an external safety casing 2. A shank 3 is attached to the safety casing 2, thus enabling the tool to be rotated by an electric motor (figure 15) or manually via a lever 4.

Description

Pipe Chaanfenng Device This invention relates to pipe chamfering tools
and more particularly relates to a conical shaped pipe chamfering tool for plastic pipes.
Plastic pipes of vanous diameter are used commonly in domestic and industrial settings, for example, above and below ground drainage systems. When connecting pipes to fittings, the male end must be chamfered to ensure it slides smoothly and easily into the female fitting nthout damage to the rubber seal or 0-ring. Currently this chamfering is performed using a flat rasp or blade, which can be time-consuming, awkward and produce an unsymmetrical shape.
To overcome this, the present invention proposes a conical shaped chamfering device which can be rotated by electric motor or by hand.
A conical shaped device allows various diameter of pipes to be chamfered using just one tool, without adjustment.
The symmetrical shape of the conical device creates a symmetrical chamfer around the entire pipe end.
By mounting the conical shaped device on a shank, the device can be attached to an electrical motor or a manual lever.
Being able to attach the device to a drill or a manual leaver ensures the device is versatile and practical in various environments.
Continuous chamfering along the circwnference of the pipe means the conical shaped device will be much quicker and easier to use than a traditional flat rasp. This can be flurther accelerated when mounted on an electrical motor compared to manual use.
An example of the invention will now be described by referring to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 Shows a plain cut end of pipe Figure 2 Shows a chamfered end of pipe ready to be inserted into the fitting.
Figure 3 Shows an example of the internal surface of the invention.
Figure 4 Shows an example of the external safety casing of the invention.
Figure 5 Shows a cross sectional view of the symmetrical conical shape.
Figure 6 Shows a longitudinal view of the invention.
Figure 7 Shows an example of an hexagonal shank.
FigureS Shows an example of an SDS type shank.
Figure 9 Shows an example of a removable bar shaped manual leaver.
Figure 10 Shows an example of a removable cross head manual leaver.
Figure 11 Shows an alternative example of the internal surface of the invention Figure 12 Shows an alternative example of the internal surface of the invention.
Figure 13 Shows an alternative example of the internal surface of the invention.
Figure 14 Shows the invention mounted to a drill.
Figure 15 Shows the invention mounted to a fixed electric motor.
Figure 16 Shows the invention fitted with a removable manual leaver.
An internal surface I made of material suitable for the chamfering of plastic pipe is in-cased in an outer safety casing 2 which is mounted on a permanent shank 3 for the attachment of a removable manual leaver or electric powered motor 5. aaIn
