Chimney tops comprise a number of plates c having outwardly-turned upper ends i mounted above a base-portion a so as to leave at the corners vertical slots d which are preferably wider at the base than at the top, the whole being surmounted by a cover-plate h. The plates care connected at top and bottom by strips f, e and may be provided near the top with elongated slots j covered internally by plates k. The base portion a, which is adapted to be inserted in the chimney pot, is preferably of inverted truncated conical form and is provided with brackets b which rest upon the top of the chimney pot.
