Abstract
A camera support stand comprises a seat (11) upon which a camera 20 is held by fixing screw or friction and an attachment means (12) to attach the stand to an upright pillar or tree or pole 14, via a support 15. The device may form an L-shape, may comprise a hook 16, bracket or arm to affix to the support 15 and may have a hinged joint (13) between the seat (11) and the attachment means (12) such that the device is foldable about that joint. The stand may further comprise a level adjustment means 21 to enable tilting of the seat relative to the attachment means. A support 15 is specified which may form part of the invention wherein the support comprises a strap, possibly resilient. The support may preferably comprise a hook and loop fastening. Further alternatives for the support are specified such as a pin, nail or suction cup device. A further claim specifies that the device may have support feet 22, such that it may be mounted on a horizontal surface or an upright, and that the feet may be foldable.

CAMERA STAND
FIELD OF THE INVENTiON
THIS INVENTION relates to a camera stand and in particular but not limited to a camera stand for small cameras including mobile phone cameras or the like.
OUTLINE OF THE INVENTION
in one broad form the invention resides in a camera stand comprising a seat portion on which a camera may be placed in operative position, an attachment means enabling the stand to be secured to a support with the camera held horizontal. Preferably, the seat and attachment means form a generally L-shaped structure which holds the camera substantially horizontal.
The attachment means typically comprises a bracket with a hook so that the bracket may hook over a support fitting to mount the stand in place.
Preferably the attachment means is hinged to the seat portion so that the stand is foldable. The camera retains its position on the seat by means of a friction pad and/or retaining screw from underneath.
The stand includes a level adjustment means to enable the seat to be tilted relative to the attachment means. The support fitting is typically an elasticised tensionable strap with Velcro fastening. Other alternatives include a standard plastic sucker and pin or nail, the attachment means being able to hook over same.
The stand may include feet so that it may be placed on a surface rather than use the attachment means to secure the camera stand in place. In this case the camera stand is dual mountable either by being attached to a support a by the attachment means or may be positioned atop a support using the feet.
The feet may be foldable.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
In order that the present invention may be more readily understood and be put into practical effect1 reference will now be made to the accompanying drawings which illustrate preferred embodiments of the invention.
Figure lisa perspective drawing of a first embodiment of a camera stand according to the present invention; Figure 2 is a side view of the embodiment of Figure 1 Figure 3 is a side view of the embodiment of seat section II including 3 alternative folding legs, 30 and hinge 31.
Figure 4 is a perspective view of the 3 alternative folding legs showing their attachment to section 11.
Figure 4 also shows an alternative hinging for arm 12.
Figure 5 is a perspective view of a further embodiment of the invention particularly suitable to a narrow camera such as a mobile phone camera.
METHOD OF PERFORMANCE
Referring to the drawings I to 3 there is illustrated a camera stand 10 comprising a seat section 11 and an attachment means 12 via a hinge 13 to the seat section 11. The attachment means 12 may be secured to a support 14 utilising a support fitting in the form of a strap 15 by means of hook section 16 of the attachment means 12 hooking over the strap.
Instead of the strap 15 a plastic suction cup can be fitted to the hook section 16 by means of slot 17. As a further alternative slot 18 may be fixed behind the head of a nail or similar.
Stop 19 locates the attachment means 12 at right angles to the seat section so that a camera shown in phantom in Figure 2 at 20 may simply be placed on the seat section 11. Stop 19 is fitted with a level adjustment means in the form of threaded screw 21 so that the angle between 11 and 12 may be adjusted closer to a required horizontal in 11.
In addition to the attachment means 12 the seat section 11 includes hinged legs 22 and 23 so that the seat section 11 can be used as a position for horizontal camera support. The legs are shown in their folded position in Figure 1.
In the embodiment of Figures 1 and 2 the camera stand is dual purpose and suited to a camera of the type illustrated at 20 or alternatively may hold other cameras which are conveniently held in position by a holder which in this case is a rectangular ring 24. The ring is shown fitted into a top pair 25, 26 of three pairs of holes one of each pair 27 and 28 are shown on one side of the attachment means 12. It will be appreciated that corresponding holes are on the opposite side as well. The holder ring 24 may be located suitably around a camera which is seated on the seat section 11 and protruding upwards through the ring 24. This would usually be utilised in Conjunction with a mobile phone camera. In the illustration in Figure 2 the ring is in its storage position. In the illustration in Figure 1 the ring is in its operative position although a camera is not illustrated. q.
The embodiments of Figures 1 and 2 may be utilized with either a square or rectangular camera or mobile phone camera.
The embodiment of Figure 5 is designed for use with a mobile phone camera having a shorter seat section 29. Figures 3 and 4 show a side view and perspective view of alternative hinging of legs and arm 12 to base 11.
It will be appreciated that the entire assembly is foldable into a compact folding stand which provides a useful platform to set a camera at any desired height against an available support.
Whilst the above has been given by way of illustrative example of the present invention many variations and modifications thereto will be apparent to those skilled in the art without departing from the broad ambit and scope of the invention as herein set forth.
Claims (6)
1. A camera support/stand comprising a seat portion on which a camera may be placed in operative position, an attachment means enabling the stand to be secured to a support with the camera held horizontal. Preferably, the seat and attachment means form a generally L -shaped structure which holds the camera substantially horizontal.
2. The attachment means typically comprises a bracket, or arm, with a hook so that the bracket may hook over a support fitting to mount the stand in place.
3. Preferably the attachment means is hmged to the seat portion so that the stand is foldable.
The camera retains its position on the seat by means of friction or a retaining screw from underneath.
4. The stand includes a level adjustment means to enable the seat to be tilted relative to the attachment means.
5. The support fitting is typcally an elasticised tensionable strap with Velcro fastening.
Other alternatives include a standard plastic sucker and pin or nail, the attachment means being able to hook on same.
6. The stand may include feet so that it may be placed on a surface rather than use the attachment means to secure the camera in place. In this case the camera stand is dual mountable either by being attached to a support by the attachment means or may be positioned atop a support using the feet. The feet may be foldable. * * * * e *
