Abstract
The invention relates to a lightweight exterior panel structure, designed to give the appearance of a wall, and comprises a concealed support system. The structure preferably consists of a framework in wood, plastic or metal, and supporting sheets of wood, metal or plastic. The structure incorporates one or more recesses for the support system, which may be a pole mounted vertically or horizontally, and onto which the panels can be placed. Where a single support pole is used to support the panel, the panel may rotate about the pole, such that the panel may act as a gate or a door. The structure may also contain one or more curved sections. Later embodiments relate to the inclusion of lighting, seating, plant material and or a water feature.
Description
Wailfence This invention relates to a lightweight exterior quality
panels which is Technical field. constructed to give the appearance of a wall. The panel incorporates a concealed support system for holding the panel upright.
Background. In modern gardens, patios, roof terraces and similar outdoor areas where it is desirable to enclose or partition the space with a wall or series of walls.
but where this may prove too expensive, too heavy or too permanent, this invention offers an alternative.
It also provides a long-lasting structure which requires virtually no maintenance.
The structure is particularly suited to use on roof terraces, balconies etc where weight might be an issue.
With an appropriate vertical support system, the Wallfence can also be practical solution for temporary installations such as events, where frequent installation and removal are necessary.
The Wallfence panels can be used to create other garden structures such as flower beds, pergolas, storage systems, gazebos or car-ports.
Supported by a single pole positioned either in the centre or to one side, the Wallfence can be used as a gate or rotating door.
Walifences also provide a practical method of dividing properties by erecting them on the boundary in place of of traditional timber fencing.
Essential technical The essence of the invention resides in the construction of the panels which features are dad with a surface covering giving the appearance of a wall.
The essential principle of the structure consists of a framework in wood, plastic or metal, supporting sheets of wood, metal or plastic and incorporat-ing circular or other shape of recess or recesses for the purpose of receiving a pole device onto which the panel can placed to support it in the vertical posi-tion.
Example Typical embodiments of the invention are described by way of examples with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 shows a typical wallfence sub-frame construction which incorporates tubes which are positioned at the base of the sub-frame in order to allow the insertion of a supporting pole.
Figure 2 shows a typical Wallfence sub-frame about to be dad with sheets of material to provide the skin' of the panel. Below is a plan view of the holes in the base frame where the pole-receiving tubes are located.
Figure 3 shows a typical Wallfence sub-frame with the sheet material fixed to the sub frame and four strips of material which are applied to the sides and end of the panel as trim. Below the main figure is a plan view.
Figure 4 shows a typical Walifence in its assembled state. Below the main figure is a plan view. The proportions and the thickness can vary according to need.
Figure 5 shows a typical Walifence installed on the ground.
An additional bar can be seen at the base. This acts as a replaceable element in case of rotting or other damage from the ground. Two poles have been inserted into the receiving tubes and cemented into the ground.
Figure 6 shows two typical Wallfences installed side by side, demonstrating the the system of erection is completely invisible.
Figure 7 shows a typical Wailfence installed using a single supporting pole.
Figure 8 shows two typical Walifence rotating on its centre axis, thereby creat-ing an opening.
Figure 9 shows a typical Wallfence installed with a single pole to one side so the panel can be used in the same fashion as a gate or door.
Figure 10 shows a typical adaptation of the erection principle where tubes are installed in the side of a panel which is then laid down to receive another panel equipped with corresponding poles in order to join them together. This system could be used for instance to construct a flower container.
Figure 11 shows another typical adaptation of the erection principle where tubes are installed in the side of one panel which is then joined to a second panel to form a self-standing object.
Figure 12 shows another adaptation of the erection principle where T-section base elements (A) are used to form a surface-level support on a temporary basis. (B) shows the elements in place.
