Abstract

244,228. Hartmann, H. Oct. 24, 1924. Stencils.-An apparatus for producing stencils from stencil sheets comprises a celluloid or simi. lar transparent sheet which is roughened by being pressed, whole soft, into contact with a. fine fabric, the stencil sheet being placed over it, and the design &c. to be duplicated marked thereon by a stylus. To enable lettering &c. to be reproduced, the transparent roughened sheet C is mounted on a base plate A provided with a ribbed metal portion f with which engage similar ribs on a slide plate consisting of a metal plate B<1> covered by a second metal sheet B<3> slotted at B<5> to receive the shaped ends of a sheet of paper D bearing the lettering to be copied. The provision of the engaging ribs on the slide plate and base plate allows the first to be moved parallel to itself for adjusting the different lines of printed matter to be copied. The plates B<1>, B<3> are connected by soldering &c. or by turning the longitudinal edges of the plate B<3> over the plate B<1>.
