Abstract
A spacer for laying bricks and blocks may be manufactured form concrete, clay, glass, stainless steel or plastic. A method of using the spacer to build a brick or block wall is also described.
Description
TITLE: WALL'S BRICK AND BLOCK LAYING SPACER.
BACKGROUND:
The skill of laying bricks and blocks to a high standard so that they are both attractive to the eye and structurally strong is difficult to acquire.
Brick and block laying people are very expensive skilled people.
STATEMENT OF INVENTION:
To reduce the requirement of "skified " brick and block layers and enable a competent D.I.Y. person or general builder to achieve a " professional look" to their brick and block laying.
ADVANTAGES: Competent D.LY. people and general builders will be able to lay bricks and blocks to a high standard.This will open up many areas of general construction to the masses.It will enable a modest barbecue to a massive mansion to be built to a standard that is both attractive to the eye and structurally strong.
It basically" de-skifis " brick and block laying.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION:
PLEASE SEE FIGURE 1: Figure one shows a diagram of WALL'S BRICK AND BLOCK LAYING SPACER.
The dimension "x" can be made to suit any thickness of concrete that is required.
WALL'S BRICK AND BLOCK LAYING SPACER can be manufactured to suit various thicknesses of concrete.
It can be manufactured from various materials including concrete, clay, glass stainless steel or plastic.
A range of standard WALL'S BRICK AND BLOCK SPACERS to cater for popular thicknesses of concrete will be available off the shelf.
Specific thicknesses can be made to order.
HOW TO USE WALL'S BRICK AND BLOCK SPACER: PLEASE SEE FIGURE 2: 1. Start with a level base or footing.
L 2. Apply a level amount of concrete to the base and press two spacers into the concrete.
3. Simpy push a brick or block onto the spacer making sure that excess concrete is squeezed out of each side of the brick or block.
4. Make sure that your spacers have not moved, if they have simply re-align.
5. Trowel away any excess concrete.
PLEASE SEE FIGURE 3.
6. The next brick or block needs one more spacer as it will rest on one of the spacers used for the first brick or block.
7. Apply a level amount of concrete to the base and this time press one spacer into the concrete.
8. Simply repeat steps 3, 4 & 5 above.
9. Use a "string line" to achieve a straight wall and a "spirit level" to keep a check on your vertical and horizontal faces.
The WALL'SBmCK AND BLOCK LAYING SPACERS will control the horizontal and lateral spacing between your bricks and blocks.
PLEASE SEE FIGURE 4: 10. Carry on as above to finish the first layer, second layer and so on.
Claims (4)
1. Wall's brick and block laying spacers will reduce the requirement of" skilled" brick and block laying professionals and enable D.LY. people and general builders to achieve a " professional look" to their brick and block laying.
2. The Wall's brick and block laying spacer will control / determine the horizontal /linear and lateral spacing between bricks and blocks.
3. The Wall's brick and block laying spacer will enable bricks and blocks to be layed without the risk of the concrete being squeezed out of the joints beyond the "support dimensions" of the Wall's brick and block laying spacer.
4. The Wall's brick and block laying spacer can be manufactured in any dimension* to cater for all different requirements of thickness of cement Please see figure 1.
