Abstract
243,949. Hutchison, R. March 2, 1925. Rolling tubes. - Ingots pass from furnaces A to a piercing machine C driven by a motor D whence they travel on a rollerway E to a trolley F which runs on a track G and carries the hollow ingots to the mandrel carriage H of a pilgering roll I driven by a motor J. The partlyformed tube is then conveyed along a table K to an automatic discharge device L which delivers to a roller-way M whence, after passing through a re-heating furnace N, the tube is finally reduced in stages to the finished diameter in a reducing-mill O, preferably of the kind described in Specification 180,322, and driven by a motor P. The tubes may be cut into lengths by a saw Q before passing to the reducing-mill.
