Valves and valve apparatus, actuating.-A ventilator for a motor vehicle comprises a cap a hinged at g, h to one edge of a flanged frame c, d, secured over an opening in the upper side of the engine bonnet f, a lug j secured to the underside of the cap a having pivoted thereto a link k, which carries a nut of the kind described in Specification 243,480 through which passes one end of a screwed stem l, the other end of which passes through the dashboard m and is provided with a knob n. A pair of hinges are employed, a spiral spring around the pin of each tending to move the cap into the open position. The hinge parts lie between the adjacent flange portions of the frame d and cap a and are enclosed thereby in all positions of the cap.
