Abstract

A heat sink that is fitted in the vicinity of the electrodes of a lamp for the purpose of dissipating heat and extending the life of the lamp. The lamp can be of any diameter, colour or shape. The heat sink is in the form of a tube made of a material with good heat conducting characteristics, such as aluminium.

Description

Lamp Heat Sink Cold cathode and Neon lamps have been around for many
years, the advantage of this type of lighting is long life, the lamps themselves can be made in various lengths, shapes and colours.
Due to the lamps long life expectancy it has been largely used in applications where access for maintenance is a problem. Due to other technologies emerging within the lighting field this type of lighting is no longer the only option available, Unless the life expectancy can be improved further.
This invention gives the lamp an improved life expectancy of 30%.
This invention takes heat away from the lamp electrodes enabling them to operate cooler and increasing the life of the lamp. There is an electrode fitted to each end of the lamp.
The electrode heat sink is essentially an aluminium sleeve that slides over the lamp electrodes.
The following drawings now explain the invention in detail:- Figure 1 shows half a standard lamp without the heat sink fitted.
Figure 2 shows the electrode heat sink.
Figure 3 shows the heat sink fitted to the electrode.
Heat Sink Description
The heat sink shown in figure 2 is a sleeve made from a material that has good characteristics for dissipating heat. This is made in different sizes depending on the diameter of the lamp being produced, traditionally these lamps are made in diameters ranging from 2mm to 25mm. tocZ S S..
