Abstract

A gutter bracket provides two degrees of freedom of adjustment without the need to remove the gutter trough from the fascia board. The height of bracket support 3 relative to fixing 1 which is attached to the fascia board is adjustable by rotation of worm 2, which can be fixed in place by grub screw 5, and the gutter trough can be levelled by sliding the T-section projection beneath bracket 4 in a complementary arcuate slot in bracket 3, followed by fixing using grub screw 6. These adjustments can be used e.g. at new installation or to compensate for distortion of a plastics fascia because of heat to return the gutter to its correct installation position.

ADJUSTABLE FASCIA SUPPORT BRACKET
This invention relates an adjustable fascia support bracket.
Items 9, 10 & 11 represent background data.
Most guttering is manufactured from PVC (item 10) along with fascia boards (item 9), which can be either made or clad in PVC.
PVC is a material, which is subject to "creep" and distortion when subject to high summer temperatures. This can result in the drainage system being compromised due to the movement of the guttering from its original installed position Installation of a new guttering system is something that has to be done with care to ensure a smooth, slow gradient to the down pipe to ensure efficient drainage Any mistakes made in putting up the mounting brackets on an exsisting system will not show up until a drainage check is made To correct this the (item 10) has to be removed before the offending brackets can be removed and refit in a new position due to the inaccessibility of the brackets mounting screws.
The invention being presented allows adjustment to the installation without the necessity to disassemble item 10 from item 8 before adjustments can be made. This also enables a new installation to be carried out quicker and easier as the accurate positioning of the fascia support brackets is not so critical. An axial adjustment along the line of item 10 is also available so corrections can be made when item 8 is screwed to item 9 that do not lie at 900 to the ground. Item 8 is intended to be a direct replacement for the existing fascia brackets and continues to utilize all current gutter sections with an alteration in design to ITEM 4.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to drawings in which: - Figure 1 shows in perspective, an example of a design in its assembled condition.
Figure 2 shows in perspective an exploded view of the items for this assembly design.
Figure 3 shows in side view item 8 at its nominal design position.
Figure 4 shows in side view item 8 tilted by a maximum +100 to cater for any angle difference when mounting the bracket to a fascia which is not perpendicular to the ground.
Figure 5 shows in side view item 8 tilted by a maximum 10 to cater for any angle difference when mounting the bracket to a fascia, which is not perpendicular to the ground.
Figure 6 shows in side view item 8 adjusted to the top position.
Figure 7 shows in side view item 8 adjusted to the bottom position.
Referring to the drawings item 8 comprises of item 1, which is mounted to the item 9 and is secured in place by up to 4 screws (items 7).
The Item 3 is attached to the item 1 and held in position by the means of two linear grooves on item 1.
Sandwiched between item 1 and item 3 is item 2, which when turned, moves item 3 up and down depending on which orientation item 2 is turned.
When the correct position for item 3 is attained a locking screw (item 5) can be turned to lock item 3 to item 1 at its desired position.
Item 4 is mounted to item 3 and held in position by means of two radial grooves which provides radial adjustment to a maximum of +100 (see fig 4) or in the other direction until it is removed completely if desired from the item 3.
After the correct position is achieved a locking screw (item 6) can be turned to lock the item 4 in position to item 3.

Claims (8)

1) An adjustable fascia support bracket (item 8) that can be used as a direct replacement for current fascia support brackets. The bracket offers limited adjustment in two degrees of freedom to correct any errors during fitment or movement due to ageing without the need to disassemble the guttering (item 10) from item 4 before unscrewing item 8 from the fascia (item 9) and the repositioning item 8 by refitting in a new position.
2) An adjustment method is supplied in the support of claim 1 as represented in fig 6 and fig 7 that enables the mounted guttering (item 10), when fitted to item 4, to be adjusted up and down, therefore changing the drainage inclination angle.
3) An adjustment method is supplied in the support of claim 1 as represented in fig 4 and fig 5 that enables the mounted guttering (item 10), when fitted to item 4, to be adjusted level to the ground and correct any errors in the fascias (item 9) perpendicularity with the ground.
4) A claim is made as described in Claim 3 that enables item 4 to be completely removed from item 3 without the need to remove the item 8 from its installed condition to item 10.
5) A claim is made in claim 1 that allows the item 8 to be used with standard guftering used for domestic and industrial purposes and does not require the purchase of unique guttering accessories.
6) Item 8 is capable of allowing the guttering to be removed from the installed position, allowing access to the mounting screws (items 7) as described in claim 4 without the need to disassemble the item 10 from item 4.
7) A claim is made supported by claim 6 that enables the item to be removed for cleaning without the need to unclip the item 10 from item 4.
8) Although item 8 described in fig 1 shows a design that utilises standard 112mm guttering item 4 can be changed so other gutter sections and sizes can be mounted.
