Abstract

An anti-theft device for a motorcycle has a base plate 1 which can be concreted into the ground. The base plate is provided with a pair of slots into which L-shaped brackets 2, 3 can be inserted, such that they depend upwardly from the upper surface of the base plate. A motorcycle wheel can be secured in the channel formed by the brackets and the base by means of a locking pin 4 inserted through holes in the brackets and through the wheel. The bracket 2 may have guide rails protecting the head of the locking pin and the other bracket 3 may have a lock mechanism encased in a steel box. The device anchors the motorcycle to the ground and prevents it being lifted into a waiting vehicle. When not in use, the brackets can be removed so that the device does not present a trip hazard. A second motorcycle can be secured to the device by the use of optional brackets (5, 6, fig 2) and locking pin (7, fig 2).

Description

I
Description
This invention relates to an anti-theft device for a motorcycle There are various anti-theft devices such as locks and chains which do not allow the wheel to revolve, all to no avail when the motorcycle can still be lifted into a waiting van.
The following device stops this by anchoring the motorcycle to the ground.
The device consists of four major parts which may be produced using hardened steel.
1. The floor plate which is concreted into the ground 2. A steel leg with guide rails and a pin locating hole near to the top 3. A steel leg with a pin locating hole and a lock encased in a steel box, near to the top 4. A steel locking pin which locks legs (2) and (3) together with the wheel (or any other appropriate location on the motorcycle) in between. To use this device, position the motorcycle wheel (or any other appropriate location on the motorcycle) on or over the floor plate (1). Locate legs (2) and (3) in the floor plate on either side of the wheel or any other appropriate location on the motorcycle). Locate the locking pin through legs (2) and (3) and lock the pin in position. The motorcycle is now secure and cannot be lifted into a waiting vehicle In fig. 2, by use of the optional legs and pin, you can attach to additional points on the motorcycle or even attach them to another motorcycle making both machines secure. To use the optional legs and pin position, the motorcycle wheel or other appropriate location point over the floor plate (1). Locate legs (2) and (3) in base plate slots. Locate locking pin (4) though leg (2) then leg (5) though motorcycle anchor point, then through legs (6) and (3) . Finally, lock pin (4) in position with captive lock. Optional legs (5) and (6) can now be locked together to other suitable anchor points on the motor cycle by using pin (7) or to another motorcycle making the two machines secure. Claim

Claims (10)

1. Anti-theft device for motorcycles consists of fig I base plate (1)
removable legs (2 & 3) locking pin (4) fig 2 optional legs (5 & 6) and extra locking pin (7)
2. The anti-theft device according to claim base plate (1) is concreted into the ground
3. The anti-theft device according to claim has legs (2 & 3) both have locating holes leg (2) having guide rails either side of hole leg (3) has a steel lock encasement covering hole all of which may be hardened steel
4. The anti-theft device according to claim has a locking pin (4) with permanent hole and head which may be hardened steel
5. The device according to claim has a base plate (1) with two permanent slots to anchor legs (2 & 3) and box section to secure when concreted into the ground
6. The device according to claim has optional extra legs fig 2 (5 & 6) with permanent holes and extra locking pin (7) with permanent hole and head all may be hardened steel
7. The device according to claim works by base plate (1) being concreted into the ground
8. The device according to claim requires the base plate (I) is level with the ground when not in use so as not to present a tripping hazard
9. The device according to the claim operates by legs (2 & 3) positioned into slots in the base plate (1) the pin (4) passing through legs (2 & 3) and the motorcycle wheel or other suitable locking point the device is then locked making it extremely difficult for the motorcycle to be removed by unauthorised personnel
