Tooth-brushes; brush stocks; bristles, firing.- A toothbrush is provided with an unbristled space corresponding to the omission of a transverse row of bristles and located next to the outer row of bristles p which are longer than the bristles q of the remaining rows. The toothbrush shown comprises a base a with a fixed bristle-carrying arm b and two pivoted arms d, e adapted to be brought parallel to the arm b and to be secured in place by a clip located in the unbristled space, and secured to the arm b. The ends of the clip are adapted to fit in recesses in the outer arms d, e and to overlap slightly their outer edges. The base a may be permanently or detachably secured to a handle n. If the stock is of bone or metal the bristles are secured by being inserted through holes in the stock and held by wires which are accommodated in grooves in the back of the stock, the grooves being subsequently closed by filling material. If the stock is of celluloid or like material the bristles are doubled and the butt ends together with binding rings or wires are punched into the stock.
