Abstract

The pieangle is a template that enables a user to divide circular items such as cakes, pies and pizzas into equal parts accurately, easily and quickly. The template can be incorporated into a variety of items, e.g. a chopping board, a plate, packaging. The user will be able to position the food item by eye using the concentric circles and divide it into the necessary number of portions by making a series of cuts at the corresponding positions using the guide markers and numbers.

Description

TITLE
Pieangle
BACKGROUND
This invention relates to dividing circular items such as food into equal parts.
When circular items such as cakes, pies, pizzas, etc. require dividing into a number of equally sized pieces, it can be difficult to measure accurately. This is especially true when the number of pieces required is odd. i.e. 3, 5, 7, 9, 11
STATEMENT OF INVENTION
The invention proposes to overcome this problem by clearly defining the positions where knife cuts are to be made in order to divide the circular item into the required number of equal pieces, thus eliminating guesswork.
4PYANTAGS The invention will enable the user to civide circular items into equal portions accwtely and quickly.
The items will be accuraty Jivi4e I itp he required number without guessworj, anti limintjn wae The invention is a tenipçe that ea e mqrked onto a variety of items e.g. chopping bórd, pack4ging, plates etc.
INTRODUCTION TO DRAWINGS
An example of the invention will now be described by referring to the accompanying drawings on pages 2,3,4 & 5.
DESCRIPTION
The invention is a simple circular template with numbered radial lines that act as a guide to a person wishing to divide a circular item such as a cake, pie or pizza etc. into equal pieces.
In figure 1 the invention has been incorporated into the design of a chopping board D. It has been marked or cut onto the surface of the board.
By using the concentric circles A, the circular item B can be placed centrally onto the template.
By then using the clearly marked and numbered radial lines C as guides it is possible to make a number of knife marks on the outside diameter of the circular item.
The numbers correspond to the amount of pieces required.
In figure 1 the user has divided the item B into 7 pieces.
The cuts are made from the numbered markers to the centre of the item and thus divide the item into equal portions.
In figure 2 the invention has been incorporated into the design of the packaging D of the circular item The invention is simply printed onto the box and is used in the same way as described in figure 1.
In figure 2 the user has divided the circular item B into 5 pieces.
In figure 3 the invention is shown in plan view, and is designed as an aid to dividing a circular item into a maximum number of 8 pieces In figure 4 the invention is shown in plan view and is designed to accommodate larger items. This version of the invention can be used as an aid to dividing a circular item into a maximum of 12 equal portions.

Claims (1)

  1. CLAIM 1 A guide template that defines the positions where knife cuts are required in order to divide circular items such as food into a various number of equal pieces.
CLAIM 2 A guide template according to claim I that can be printed or marked on various items such as chopping boards, packaging, serving plates etc.
