Abstract
Razor 11 comprises a generally straight handle 12 and a blade head 13 connected to one end of the handle. The blade head 13 supports a pair of blades 15A,15B, each blade being angled relative to the handle axis at between 35{ and 55{ e.g. 45{.
Description
1 2425085 Title: Improved Razor The present invention relates to an
improved razor.
Many people shave with hand razors, especially of the disposable type. A problem with these is that the blades blunt relatively quickly and the razor often needs replacing in less than a week.
The invention seeks to provide an improved razor which remains sharp for a longer period of time.
According to the present invention there is provided a razor comprising a generally straight handle and a blade head connected to one end of the handle, said blade head supporting at least one blade, the or each blade being angled relative to the handle axis at between 35 and 55 .
Preferably the blade is angled at between 400 and 5o0 e.g. 450 Preferably the blade head is a generally rectangular block supported substantially at 65 to the handle axis. Preferably the or each blade is angled at approximately 20 to the block.
Preferably the razor allows the user to shave with the or each blade inclined at about 10 the surface of the skin.
The invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 shows a cross section view of a disposable razor of the prior art, and Figure 2 shows a cross section view of a razor of the present invention.
Referring to Figure 1 there is shown a know type of disposable razor 1. Razor I has a handle 2 connected to a blade head 3 by a shaft 4. Blade head 3 is a generally rectangular block and supports a pair of planar cutting blades 5A,5B. Cutting blades 5A,5B are at an angle of around 750 to the axis of the handle 2 as shown by dotted lines. Head 3 is supported at around 350 to the axis of the handle. The blades 5A,5B are set at an angle of about 20 to the head 3.
Referring to Figure 2 there is shown a disposable razor I I in accordance with the invention.
Razor II has a handle 12 connected to a blade head 13 by a shaft 14. Blade head 13 is a generally rectangular block and supports a pair of planar cutting blades ISA, I 5B. Cutting blades 1SA,15B are at an angle of around 450 to the axis of the handle 12 as shown by dotted lines.
Head 13 is supported at around 650 to the axis of the handle.
Razor 11 may be moulded from plastics.
It has been found that with cutting blades 15A,15B at an angle of around 45 to the axis of the handle 12, the blades stay sharper than with a razor with cutting blades at an angle of around 65 as shown in Figure 1. It is believed the blades could self-sharpen themselves against the skin of the user. In use the blades of the razor of the invention are inclined at an angle of about 10 relative to the skin, whereas the angle is much greater with known razors.
The invention may take a form different to that specifically described above. For example the razor need not be disposable but the head could support a disposable blade. Each blade could be angled at and angle other than 45 , e.g. at an angle between 35 and 55 .
Further modifications will be apparent to those skilled in the art without departing from the scope of the present invention.
Claims (7)
1. A razor comprising a generally straight handle and a blade head connected to one end of the handle, said blade head supporting at least one blade, the or each blade being angled relative to the handle axis at between 350 and 55
2. A razor according to claim I, wherein the blade is angled at between 400 and 50 .
3. A razor according to claim 2, wherein the blade is angled at 45
4. A razor according to any preceding claim, wherein the blade head is a generally rectangular block supported substantially at 65 to the handle axis.
5. A razor according to claim 4, wherein the or each blade is angled at approximately 20 to the block.
6. A razor according to any preceding claim, wherein the razor allows the user to shave with the or each blade inclined at about 10 the surface of the skin.
7. A razor substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to and as shown in the accompanying drawings.
