Abstract
242,430. Willatt, F. H. Nov. 1, 1924. Lace. - Looped fabrics somewhat resembling knitted fabrics but less liable to ladder are made on twist lace or like machines by causing slack bobbin threads to loop or hank with the warp threads. The mechanism described in Specification 242,397 may be used for this purpose. Fig. 1 shows a one-and-one ribbed fabric there being a pair of warp threads to each bobbin thread b - - b<3>. The bobbin threads co-operate as shown with warp threads fw - - fw<3>, one from each pair, on the front motions and with the warps bw - bw<3> on the back motions. Other combinations of ribs such snch as three-and-two are obtainable. If all the warp threads coact with bobbin threads on the front or the back motions only a fabric with ribs on one face only is obtained. Fig. 4 shows a fabric in which each bobbin thread b co-operates with three warp threads which plait together. Fig. 5 shows a fabric in which there is provided one warp w - - w2 to each bobbin thread b - - b<2> and each bobbin thread loops twice round each adjacent warp while adjacent bobbin threads rest. Other patterned fabrics can be made by preventing bobbin threads which otherwise would loop with warp threads from doing so at predetermined intervals.
