PATENT SPECIFICATION
THE ROCKING SPIRIT BOARD
COMPLETE SPECIFICATION.
Improvements in Telepathic Appliances for Amusement.
We Christopher David Thompson and Eleanor Mny Thompson citizens of the Umted Kingdom residing at 101 Princes Street, Derby, DE23 8NS, United Kingdom do hereby declare the nature this invention and in what manner the same is to be performed, to be particularly described and ascertained
in and by the following statement: -
Abstract.
This invention relates to improvements in appliances for indicating telepathic and like messages, more particularly to that, class of appliance known as the spirit board. It is designed to tiy and eliminate the possibility of the answers being manipulated by a singular person.
The invention has for its object to provide a game appliance whereby two or more persons can amuse themselves by asking questions of any kind and having them answered by the device used and operated by the touch of the hand or hands, so that the answers are designated by letters or the like on the board.
The appliance according to the present invention consists of a circular board inlaid with the letters of the alphabet, numerals I - 0 and words YES, NO, BYE and? and the option for various other insignias in the center, with a fingerplate, marker ball track, pivot ball recess, pivot ball and marker ball. The letters, numerals, or symbols indicated by the marker ball can be thus readily observed by the players or operators as the marker ball moves around the marker ball track and comes to rest on board.
Description.
The invention also includes the particular construction combination and arrangement of parts as hereinafter described and illustrated. In the accompanying drawings: Figure 1 is the plan view of the board showing the symbols, numerals and letters arranged thereon: Figure 2 is a section view of the board through A-A: Figure 3 is the pivot ball: Figure 4 is the marker ball Figure 1 represents the board, which may be made of wood, metal or any other rigid material and of any suitable size and thickness. Located around the edge of the board is a fmgerplate 1 made sufficiently wide so fingers placed thereon do not obstruct the motion of the marker ball. Running around the board inside the fingerplate is the marker ball track 2 upon which the marker ball figure 4 is 2.
placed. Inside said track the letters of the alphabet and numerals from 1 to 0 3 in any suitable order are arranged in a circle so as to form a smgle circle with the letters and numbers equally spaced. The center on the board is split into four quadrants 4 allowing quick access to the answers YES, NO, BYE and?.
The latter meaning I do not understand please rephrase.
Figure 2 shows a section view of the board allowing you to see the semicircular groove 2, which is cut into the face of the board, being the marker ball track. This track should be as smooth as possible allowing the marker ball to rotate freely around the board and sufficiently deep to prevent the marker ball from becoming easily dislodged. In the center on the underside of the board is a recess 5; this is used to locate the board upon the pivot ballflgure 3 Figure 3 shows the pivot ball, which may be made of wood, metal or any other rigid material and of any suitable size to enable the board to rock without easy displacement of the marker ball figure 4.
Figure 4 shows the marker ball, which can be made of any suitable material that can be made smooth and spherical but ensuring it has sufficient weight to allow free motion and prevent easy displacement and light enough to ensure the board figure 1 can still move freely on its pivot.
The players or persons by the placement of one finger from one or both hands depending on the number of participants on the fingerplate 1 manipulate the board. Any changes in the pressure applied with the fingers will cause the marker ball figure 4 to move around the track 1 and upon coming to rest the appropriate letter 3, number 3 or answer from the quadrant 4 (dependent on the question asked) is noted. 3.
Claims (1)
- Claim.Having now particularly described and ascertained the nature of our said invention and in what manner the same is to be performed, we declare that what we claim is: - A circular board inlaid with the letters of the alphabet, numerals 1 - 0 and words YES, NO, BYE and?, with a fingerplate, marker ball track, pivot ball recess, pivot ball and marker ball.
