Abstract
A crutch support strap comprising an adjustable shoulder strap and an adjustable waist strap to assist in carrying a crutch when using stairs. Preferably the support strap keeps the crutch out of the way enabling the user to grip the banister. A zip-up storage pouch may be provided to store the support strap when not in use. The pouch may be made from soft waterproof material to provide comfort when carrying the crutch on the users back. The straps may be made from woven webbing with buckle fasteners having slide adjusters. Both strap and pouch may be cleaned if necessary. To carry a crutch the user slips it through loops provided on the pouch and secures it with a further strap having hook and loop tape. The shoulder and waist straps fasten around the body.
Description
DESCRIPTION
USE OF CRUTCHES ON STAIRS
When going up and down stairs, one hand is used to hold the banister rail I or support and balance, the other hand holds one of the two crutches This leaves you with a spare crutch you will need when you reach the tc*p or bottom of the stairs.
The normal way to hold the spare crutch is to wedge it under y ur arm This is an accident waiting to happen, especially for older and frail people. The crutch support strap is designed to carry your spare crutch on your back safely out of the way and clear of the steps.
The crutch support strap has a zip-up pouch to keep the straps and buckles safely out of the way when used as a normal crutch. The straps go over your shoulder and around your waist and are secured with a side release buckle.
