Abstract
A clip used to attach polythene to the tubular frame of a polytunnel or similar tunnel used to grow fruit and the like. The clip comprises at least one hole through which a rope may be inserted. Inserting the rope through a plurality of clips enables the clips to be removed from the tunnel at the same time upon pulling of the rope. This enables quick removal of the polythene from the tunnel in high winds or storms. Further, the rope may be used to tighten the clips onto each tunnel. Moreover, use of the rope means that the clips are less likely to be lost.

1 2414507 Polytunnel Tube Clip-with rope hole This invention relates to a
device for Fixing Polythenc to a steel frame tunnel.
Currently this happens in the farming industry to grow fruits and berries under cover to help the selElife' growth and appearance.
The current tube clips in use in the fruit growing industry leads to a number of difficulties.
The weather plays havoc with these tunnels especially high winds. High winds can damage the polythene and steel structure resulting in thousands of pounds worth of damage. So much damage has been caused in resent years that these tunnels are now no longer insurable.
The key to stopping any damage is to remove the polythene and allow the wind to pass through unobstructed. To do this you have to take the tube clips off and pull down the polythene.
The clip with rope hole comes into its own here by allowing the farmer to thread a rope through each clip. So they no longer have to take each clip off individually. They can now use the rope to pull each set off clips off each tunnel.
The clip with rope hole also means if bad weather results in conditions where the l:arrner has to get the tunnels down during the night. He will be less likely to lose them, as they will be all fixed together.
The rope hole will also prevent the clips from pinging off and potentially causing a health and safety issue.
['his method can be adjusted to suit any size of tubular frames although the industry standard is 40mm diameter.
Claims (5)
- Claims 1. A tube clip is a means of attaching polythene to a polytunnel orany other fruit tunnel.
- 2. A tube clip with rope hole, a clip with a hole to allow rope to be placed through each clip making a continuous line along each tunnel.
- 3. A clip with rope hole to allow the rope to be pulled off pulling all the clips off at the same time.
- 4. A clip with rope hole to allow a rope to tighten the clips onto the tunnel.
- 5. Clip with rope hole allowing the clips to be held together meaning that they will be less likely to be lost.
