241,423. Gramophone Co., Ltd., (Victor Talking Machine Co.). Jan. 6, 1925. Speed-regulating. - In a centrifugal governor for gramophones &c. the pressure of a disc controlled by the flyweights against a brake-pad causes a second brake-pad to press against a second rotating disc. The brakes may be on opposite sides of the gearing between the motor and the turntable spindle. The disc 13, Fig. 1, presses on a brake-pad 30 on the arm 27 of a bell-crank lever and a brake pad 33 on the other arm contacts with a disc 14 on the turntable spindle 8. The bell-crank lever is pivoted on a lever 21 secured to the rock-shaft 17, the position of the brake-pads being adjusted by a lever 16. In a modification, Fig. 7, the sliding disc contacts with a brake-pad 20 on the bell-crank lever 23 which actuates a bell-crank lever 40 to move a pad 43 on to the disc 19 secured to the governor shaft. The governor is regulated by the rock-shaft 17 which carries an arm on which the lever 23 is pivoted.
