Abstract

Animal bedding of dust extracted absorbent wood shavings, combined with an infusion of diluted essential oils. The chemicals released will help with common breathing and respiratory problems that animals suffer from, including COPD in horses. The oils are diluted with a single carrier oil. Further dilution with water may take place for spraying over wood shavings, straw, hemp, cardboard or paper. Also described is the bedding sealed in air tight bags and a vaporizer or spray canister containing oils used to boost the aroma.

How we combine the products:- The actual process Is a very simple one. We will baying in good quality dust extracted shavings, the shavings will be put onto various conyeyor belts, as they go along the conveyor belt they will be showered with the various essential oils. (Diagram 1) When the shavings reach the end of the conveyor they will be put straight into polythene bags and then sealed to contain the freshness and aroma. (Diagram 2) Our Aim After adding the diluted essential oils to the bedding, (shavings, straw, cardboard, paper) it will create a relaxing and soothing aroma for horses and other animals to enjoy, as well as the aid it will give them when inhaled. Hopefully when putting these additives to the bedding, it will help with common breathing and respiratory problems that animals suffer from.
One of the most common respiratory problems horse suffer from is COPD: COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) is a lung disease that resembles human asthma. The condition is also known as heaves, recurrent airway obstruction, broken wind, emphysema, chronic bronchitis or small airway disease.
COPD is more common in cold countries, where horses are kept in barns for prolonged periods of time. Horses that suffer from the condition are usually allergic to mould particles found in dust.
COPD is most commonly found in mature horses (usually over 7 years of age) that are stabled during the winter months. It is rarely found in warm, dry climates where horses are outside all year round.
This is why it is essential in lower climate countries to make sure that the bedding our horses have is beneficial to them, due to the amount of time they are stabled. Our bedding would be especially benificial to athletic horses, as COPD would cause a premature end to their competitive career.
Therefore, we hope to help and reduce different ailments with different mixes of essential oils.
For example:
Eucalyptus Oil) l ogether these oils will revive, cool and stimulate.
Along with its antiseptic properties, will provide a Peppermint Oil) great relief for any animal when inhaled.
Tea Tree Oil) We hope to have eliminated 99% of the dust, by dust extraction and then spraying evenly with the essential oils.
The final product will then be packaged and sealed in air tight bags to contain the aromas.
